It's probably their worst song. Still pretty good but yeah, one of the few songs they've ever released that isn't an all time favourite for me.

 

I generally dislike all songs explicitly "about California" so it might be a me thing

but also I feel like by MCR standards its extremely tame/safe/uninteresting

 

We DON'T need another song about California. MCR was right and someone needs to say it.

They soundchecked "Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back" this afternoon. That might mean a couple more shows before it gets played, if at all, but just seeing a 10 second clip on Twitter confirming it was a big deal. The #1 song I want to see them play live.

I remember they played it once after Danger Days dropped but said it didn't work live so they never revisited it. Can't wait to hear it!

I can’t imagine having “Save Yourself” in your discography and not playing it at every gig. But I said the same about “Ambulance” and Gerard told me to fuck myself, so what do I know

Save Yourself is on a similar level as Ambulance to me. Great song but it's still one of my least favourites of theirs and wouldn't want it in a setlist over a better song.

 

They have very few songs better than Save Yourself

When DD came out I thought Save Yourself was the closest to the last album. Which is an endorsement

 

Save Yourself is a top 3 MCR song for me. I can't believe they've finally played it live again! (And only a week after I saw them)

 

I have to imagine it's very tough vocally. Very high key

 

Danger Days is so fucking good, Jesus. Its still probably my favorite. This band is amazing
