I remembered it one way but was unsure, which is why I asked the question. Sorry I guess?

Yeah but Clinton's 08 campaign burned some calories trying to create the racist perception that Obama wasn't a "real American". They sent Drudge the Majir photo directly after all.

It would be hard to convince me that you could appropriately separate the racial undertones of the Clinton campaign from the birther movement entirely.

But on a purely fact/fiction basis. Yes, I stand completely corrected on my original assertion that the birther movement originated with Clinton.

Yes there were very real racial undertones to clintons campaign but there was not anywhere near the amount of attention on the birther "issue" in 2008 as there was when trump became the official spokesperson for the movement. This is a fact. I figured that's what you meant by spotlight.

Yeah I was incorrect on that part.

Trump no doubt was the flag-bearer of that movement, I am not disputing this.

I think the only proof that it was the Clinton campaign that supplied that picture to Drudge was Drudge saying it was them. Not sure though.

If you deny that Clinton used xenophobic and race-based tactics in 2008 against Obama, then you're just being dishonest. I don't particularly care if her team sent that photo to Drudge or not.

Also, researching the issue, I found a Clinton staffer's denial to be very funny and topical:

I can probably count the number of politicians I respect on one hand. Sanders, Grijalva, de Blasio, Gabbard, Warren, Serrano, Baldwin, Ellison. That's about it. If it weren't for minority members, the Democratic Party would be terrible.

  21. 'You don't fit the image': Hillary Clinton's decades-long push against a sexist press
Some of the earliest footage of Clinton having to deal with open sexism comes from 1979. She was a month into her spell as first lady of Arkansas and was being interviewed on local television.

“You don’t really fit the image we have created for the governor’s wife in Arkansas,” says her inquisitor, a man with a brutal hair parting and disconcerting tie.

“You’re not a native. You’ve been educated in liberal eastern universities. You’re less than 40. You don’t have any children. You don’t use your husband’s name. You practice law. Does it concern you that maybe other people feel that you don’t fit the image that we’ve created for the governor’s wife in Arkansas?”

Clinton – who earned a doctor of law degree from Yale, was the first female chair of the Legal Services Corporation, and was the first female partner at Rose Law Firm, the third oldest law firm in the US – handled the question with panache while sporting a huge pair of spectacles in what was the style of the time.

I wonder if it'll occur to Trump supporters as odd that Trump's reaction to an attempted bombing is "I called it"...but I doubt it will.

Wait, Hillary is even less favorable with older people than younger ones? I thought I was just reading that Millennials are ruining this election for Clinton though?
