New Spiter album is out

 

Thank you for posting this! Cool to see a project rise out of a group of guys from bands all from my hometown scene/area.

For those that don’t know, Endicott was a big deal local band to the Albany, NY/Tri-state area until, like many bands from that scene, fizzled out after a first big release. Aficionado and Self Defense Family are also locally loved bands from the area and all great people. Nick and Chris from Aficionado went to my same high school and Self Defense Family/End of a Year were essentially the same band with a few member changes, but ultimately are the projects that got Pat K to where he is now (fronting Drug Church and running the Axe 2 Grind Podcast).

 

Also produced at HAE studios in Hudson, NY, which is actually my exact home city. This is fun.

 

I've listened to the first 5 but idk if I can manage to do all 12 and not get bored lol

I don't know - I definitely think it's informative for me to know about Pike's beliefs in conspiracy theories around Icke and the antisemitic leanings of someone he so strongly believes in and has trouble disavowing completely. I actually felt that Grayson Currin did a pretty good job of giving Pike a chance to articulate his beliefs. If he can't do that without continually referring to Jewish bankers, that's something I want to know.

Plus the obligatory fact we can be upset about a bunch of different things at once...including things objectively more seriously than a pothead conspiracy theorist who does actually have a pretty big platform with Sleep and High On Fire.

for sure. idk, it just strikes me as, if you know the name matt pike, i feel like it's pretty commonplace to know that he's felt this sort of way about stuff for a long time? like, idk who exactly it was intending to inform. fwiw, i'm jewish. i don't particularly think pike himself is an anti-semite, i just think he's a burnout idiot, which is what he's always been? idk. obviously publishing it isn't hurting anyone, i just don't know who exactly it is for or who needs to be told this about matt pike that knows who he is

I...don't know how anyone is still surprised about any of this, considering Sleep was penning lyrics like "I believe the signs of the reptile master" as far back as Holy Mountain.

I get people's concern but idk, he's been loudly about this whackadoo conspiracy shit a long time now and people keep acting surprised. Some concerning references to "Jewish bankers" nonwithstand I don't really get the impression he's an antisemite either. He contributed to/appeared in that "Racism Sucks" montage that Tankcrimes put together in 2020, which, sure, doesn't count for a whole lot in the grand scheme of things but I'd really hesitate to lump Matt in with the worst of the infowars nutjobs.

so far, when it comes to the weird shit he believes (to varying degrees), most of it seems to be insane reptilian Sumerian UFO shapeshifter bigfoot expanding mind meme shit. he's a far cry from someone like Rob Miller - who I am still mad and disappointed about, btw.

 

i mean, i get being mad about him being a total dipshit. he is. just seems a little weird to frame the article as “these conspiracies are harmful now.” they always have been!

 

right. it does suck seeing how easily and how quickly people's minds get rotted through by conspiratorial thinking and belief.

 

It blows my mind that anybody with a rational mind believes anything David Icke says imo. Like yeah yeah gullible people and being tricked but there’s just something about someone listening to someone else saying that lizard people controlling the world as a very thinned veiled cover for antisemitism and believing it is so crazy and wild to me.
