  1. Fave song?

I skipped the singles my first listen through, so my jaw dropped at Beautiful Losers and A Disappearing Act back to back. Ladders of Supremacy sounds exactly like what I thought it would. Title track is wild, and sounds like it came out of a musical. The Dear Hunter/Black Parade like. There wasn't anything I disliked.

  3. Yeah, A Disappearing Act was the one that knocked me on my ass on the first listen, those huge synths.

They sound so rejuvenated. I'm so happy. This is a modern day NWFT, with more of a focus the electronic/futuristic vibes than classic rock like NWFT, but the hooks are reminding me of things like The Hound and Feathers more than anything else.

EDIT: A Disappearing Act reminds me of Vital/lowborn era Anberlin.

That’s amazing. listening to the singles NWFT was the one that was coming to the forefront the most. The focus on the strength of the melodies, with a leaning towards big, stadium rock and roll (with a little IKS prog) seems to be the style this go around, and I’m loving every second. Very excited!

  7. Hot take: The title track sounds like Electric Light Orchestra taking a stab at writing a lost Willing Well song. It's wild. This whole thing is a lot of fun. They never make the same album twice, but this is a totally new direction for them.

    Edit:
Also, Love Murder One really stood out for me. So groovy.

Title track is very very wild. I have no idea what i think of it lol.

Really really like this as a whole. Can't wait to blast this all summer long.

Quibble: Our Love seems somewhat unnecessary.

the title track made me remember this little tidbit in a magazine before TCBTS came out. It sounds like what I imagined this project to sound like.

Man, I know Coheed has sounded huge and epic before, but there are parts of songs here that are absolutely MASSIVE sounding. the "chorus" of Ladders of Supremacy is just... I don't even know how to describe it. I love it. Apparently this record is already divisive in the Coheed subreddit, but I am loving how different from their norm so much of this is.

I can tell it's 128, but the singles sound pretty maxed out too, so I think that was the vibe they were going for this time around. It will definitely sound better, but the 128 isn't hurting it too much.

the leak quality is terrible but wow what a record

way more balanced than vaxis i, which was the only thing i didn't like about that record

I remember getting called out after TUC came out because I thought it would be cool for them to work with a well known producer (I used the example of Will Yip. I still think it'd be cool) and remember people saying they should keep going the self produced route. After hearing this, I'd love for them to work with different well known producers that have their own sound signature for each record from here on out. It'll help keep things fresh for them and help differentiate the sound from album to album.

Are you listen to a "vagrant records stream"

To this day, I can't listen to Beggars without hearing that

Soon enough. I'm just happy to be listening. It is funny, when I was frequently downloading music before streaming, I had crappy speakers/headphones, and couldn't really tell a difference. Now that I have good equipment (Sony XM4 over ears, AudioEngine A2s) it is very obvious, haha.

It's like that point in life when you get a chance to drink great wine for the first time, or pizza levels above little caesars. There's no going back... just give me that sweet sweet lossless on my Denon PMA-900V and B&W 705's now days.
