I also just feel like commercially yellowcard is bigger than SDRE. SDRE is clearly the more important and influential band but the influential bands never are as popular as the ones that pop at the peak of the sound

 

I know but *major sample bias here* I know maybe 3 people at most IRL who could name more than one YC song in 2022. And probably know about the same number who know who SDRE is. I like them both, no shade! Just don't peg Riot Fest (granted haven't been since 2013) as the kinda crowd that's just gonna wanna vibe for Ocean Avenue and maybe Only One or something

edit: I'm just wrong haha. Yellowcard literally played Riot Fest the last time I went (only went to Sun and mostly went for the Replacements and a band I won't mention anymore; YC played Fri)

 

I only know Oceans Avenue and that one song they stupidly and weirdly tried to sue Juice Wrld over.

Ever since that incident I’ve had no desire to ever listen to anything from them, but that’s just me.

 

The Spotify numbers are also heavily skewed since YC is in a ton of super popular playlists. I imagine SDRE isn’t a part of a ton of popular playlists lol

 

Spotify is a bad metric to determine success imho. I’ve been to shows with artists who have millions of plays and listeners on Spotify who are playing small cap venues and/or shows that aren’t selling out and I’ve also been to shows with artists who aren’t getting millions of plays and listeners who are selling out shows.

 

Also friendly reminder (worth saying anytime Spotify comes up) that Apple Music pays artists significantly more and I believe is a comparable price point to Spotify (don’t know exactly what Spotify is now). And I’m not a dyed-in-the-wool Apple fanboy necessarily either, I’ve owned Android phones and probably will again (and the AM Android app is good)

 

I just want to say for the record, I’m not a yellowcard fan but just a person who finds Spotify numbers intriguing and debate exhilarating.

No Deacon :/ but still very very good. Lots of Vince Gill which ruled and Joe was in top form

Poppy is out since touring with Smashing Pumpkins/Jane's Addiction. Assuming this a fall tour lining up with Aftershock and WWWY.

 

Wouldn’t surprise me to even see something like the used opening for them. Knocked loose is on WWWF

 

The Used is already touring with ADTR so they are out.

 

Bad Omens doesn’t have anything past late August. Them and a out of the blue non metal genre British artist are my guesses.

 

Ghost and Mastodon tour apparently is happening this summer/fall

 

Fuck! Ghost is so fucking amazing live… Mastodon is sweet too!
