Well I now know that it's not my diet that's preventing me from becoming a pro football player

I had a solid eight/nine year run without a dishwasher or a washer/dryer of my own.

My feeling is that being without a dishwasher is absolutely manageable, but I'll die before I go back to having to share a laundry room.

  5. Regarding the dishwasher, you don't put in one plate and then run it. You fill it then run it. If you're one or two people, maybe you only run it every 2-3 days.

Going from no dishwasher or washer/dryer to having one is what I imagine hitting the lottery feels like.

My mom refuses to use the perfectly good dishwasher we had installed like 5 years ago when we remodeled the kitchen. It has probably been used like once per year

I'm pretty sure the place that I'm moving to in the fall won't have a dishwasher, and thinking about what I'm going to need, I'm kind of wondering what the point is of having more than one plate/glass/etc.

I mean yes, I could have company, but what better way to prevent people from inviting themselves over and eating your food than sayinf "sorry, if you want to come over, you can't have a plate to eat off of"?

On the grand hierarchy of apartment dealbreakers, no dishwasher is pretty much #1 for me after base level can’t be completely nasty and must allow my dog. I don’t rate laundry as even close, at least as far as in unit goes. A nice to have for sure, and I probably could never willingly go back to laundry out of the building entirely, but give me a dishwasher in my kitchen and laundry I share w 5 other units and I’m much, much happier than laundry in unit and no dishwasher. I pretty much would have to quit cooking.

I was wondering where this obsessive dishwasher love was coming from until this sentence, and then everything became clear.

I get it. For about a year or so, my mom's dishwasher didn't work properly, so my brother finally convinced her to get a replacement and then he actually installed it himself, because my brother is an absolute madman.

But beyond that, my brother is good at cooking, and when he makes stuff, even if it's just for himself, he'll use like every dish he possibly can. And of course once we had a working dishwasher again, he stopped washing dishes completely and just loaded up the dishwasher with anything and everything.

Anyway, my point is I get that needs must, so of course in your case a dishwasher would be far more important. Whereas for me, who lives off of the microwave and likes to throw everything in a single bowl, it's not.

Be kind; everyone is on their own journey.

Ya we’ve kept the same grocery budget all along and definitely have less food…makes it tough to plan dinners for the week

Can't they make one line change and hold another vote? Keep making him eat shit and answer for it. Like keep hammering it. But no, they'll say "We tried" and move on.
