I'd honestly be happy if the more to come is album play announcements LOL

So i’ve never seen Misfits, and i’m less keen on that one particular album, and more into just lots of songs from different periods.

I assume they’ll do that album and like, a best of the rest?

Yes, the album is like 25 minutes long... and there's only like 3 or 4 songs on the album that aren't in their usual setlist

If by the rest you still mean stuff from 1983 or earlier, then yes.

Woof. This is NOT for me. Honestly might be my least favorite riot lineup I've ever seen. Theres legit not a single act that a) I haven't seen before or b) a band that I've always wanted to see and can only see on a festival like this.

Jeez. This is not gonna be the same 7 stages of hell. I am 100% out

Hah I'm sure they have plenty of those tweets already.

It just comes down to i don't care about any of the "gets" and the fillers aren't bands im that excited about either.

This is for a particular fan but I'm not into sunny day, Bauhaus, nine inch nails, yeah yeahs, bleachers, sleater Kinney, Portugal the man.

It feels geared to a very particular type of rocker and i am not that.

Anyone know if RF requires names to be on the ticket for a VIP pass? wondering if i need to request a name change for the one i bought on resale.

Maybe it's like another Thursday pre party? TBS, Eve 6, Thursday, Tenacious D or some of the other acts we thought were going to be there.

They are bringing the Thursday pre party back and Op Ivy and Blink with Tom are headlining

Undercard seems a little weak but then again, getting the dailies as opposed to an initial Wall of Text first wave probably has something to do with that perception. Was pumped for Ice Cube yesterday, but NIN is the one headliner I gotta go for over him, so that's a bummer. Hoping I can catch 2/3 between YYYs/Sleater-Kinney/JEW. Otherwise, seems like a pretty enjoyable weekend for me, only a handful of Must See's but plenty of bands I'd be happy to see, and plenty of new acts to research.

Honestly, I wonder if undercard acts can make more money doing a smaller tour right now than a festival. It’s cutthroat right now.

Honestly, the more I look at the lineup, the more I love it. I ought like this year’s better than last year’s! Really need to figure out a way to make it this year…

Also, the more I think about it, the more I’m remembering acts that we for sure thought we’re playing but aren’t now…

Tenacious D, Rx Bandits, and now I just realized that we thought Mastodon was a lock, but they didn’t make it.

Wondering if there actually will be a “second wave” of some sort. These were all kinda odd that they didn’t end up happening

If they add a "preview" party again this year, I'm gonna be super-bummed. I have to fly-in morning of which... I've never done and I kinda fucking hate that I have to do.

But it was that or nothing. Haha.

    My must-sees:

Friday: My Chemical Romance, Alkaline Trio, Descendents, Rocket from the Crypt, Jeff Rosenstock, Less Than Jake, Lagwagon, Sincere Engineer, Cliffdiver

Saturday: The Misfits, Yellowcard, Bad Religion, the Menzingers, the Get Up Kids, 7 Seconds, Bully, Mannequin Pussy, War On Women, Thick, No fuckin' Triggaaaah

Sunday: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ice Cube, Jimmy Eat world, Lunachicks, Midtown, PVRIS, Jawbox, the Bombpops

I'm sure I'll find more and there's plenty of "kinda wanna see" to fill the gaps. Man, am I pumped!

to add to that, there is a reddit thread about an interview Riot Mike did on radio. copied from that post:

"I briefly heard Riot Mike talking with Q101 before the lineup announcement today and he mentioned that they still have a ton of stuff they’re announcing over the next month, specifically saying that something big was coming and that they haven’t done something this big since taking the fest outside. Couldn’t help but think that these announcements are gonna be related to the price increase - longer sets, bigger stages, etc. Any ideas?"

debating flying in morning of or coming in early still. hotels are pretty pricey and I definitely have to stay till Monday but I’m just so tired flying in the morning of.

  25. Interesting. I don't think longer sets makes sense, besides maybe the headliners. 45 minutes to an hour is fairly standard and what most of these bands plan for on a festival run. What would be cool and a very big deal is if aftershows were free with a 3-day pass and featured some of the bands we expected to be on the lineup but didn't get. It would kind of make it a hybrid outdoor/indoor Riot Fest.
