Stephen for sure sings the bridge completely alone:

All of you is all of me
But they got us tribal choosing
All of me is all of you
And we can’t just keep on losing

And I’m not entirely sure but it almost definitely sounds like he’s singing background vocals during the verses (second verse in particular if you listen closely).

i’ve been meaning to tell you

lol i already figured stephen was like that based on some of his comments/instagram posts/the way the band talked about covid when he was out with covid, so this is not a shock to me

as excited as i am for new Anberlin, this just confirms my continual skepticism of Stephen. probably a byproduct of his Evangelical worldview, but he's said some stuff the past few years about social and political issues that's kinda rubbed me the wrong way (save for the slightly-performative but well-intentioned "end racism" banners at the end of their livestreams, and their compliance with/encouragement of masking and vaccine rules by venues). it seems as though the Anberlin name on this feature is here just to generate buzz and listenership. even if the lyrics Stephen sings are about not trying to box in "the other", that doesn't discount holding someone accountable for putting others in danger. likewise, it seem a bit "both sides"-y. Stephen should know better than to attach his name (or the band's name) to this kind of lyricism, especially when the other four members seem fairly opposed to the kind of rhetoric Seth is espousing.

not only is this song terrible, but it's hilarious to see someone claim that people can't think for themselves when he's based his current sociopolitical mindset of of Kanye West...

MK-Ultra was a top-secret CIA project in which the agency conducted hundreds of clandestine experiments—sometimes on unwitting U.S. citizens—to assess the potential use of LSD and other drugs for mind control, information gathering and psychological torture. Though Project MK-Ultra lasted from 1953 until about 1973, details of the illicit program didn’t become public until 1975, during a congressional investigation into widespread illegal CIA activities within the United States and around the world.
    MK-Ultra

So he’s basically making a lyrical comparison between Covid and the MK Ultra program through public “mind control”, “torture”, etc.

    Friggin stupid.

It's so fucking crazy that the CIA got away with that shit. Makes you wonder what stuff they're doing today that nobody knows about.

back when Trump was inaugurated he said he'd be willing to perform at his inauguration, not because he like his policies (i'm sure he doesn't agree with a good number of them), but because it would be a moment of unification for a divided country. ofc he voted for DeSantis.

Has there ever been another track by someone else to feature "Anberlin" as opposed to featuring simply "Stephen Christian"? Kinda seems like the whole band had to have ok'd this one!

holy shit, despite all the terribleness of the lyrics and Seth and Anberlin's involvement, the song itself is incredibly bad, just a terrible song top to bottom

Listening back to the track Impossible. How did this not blow up?

Yeah that was by far my favorite "single" they ever pushed, maybe except for Paperthin Hymn. Hearing Impossible for the first time was just total euphoria for me.

It had the delayed guitars but also the power and energy that I wanted Angels & Airwaves to have more of.

Only thing I can think of is that it was a bit long. But nothing a radio edit couldn't fix.

    Edit:
Paperthin Hymn is one of few songs I remember hearing on the radio for the first time. It sounded like nothing else on the station.
