Finished the first episode of Life is Strange and wow. This time travel mechanic definitely elevates this from the Telltale formula to a whole new level.

I'm such an asshole for taking that picture of Victoria (totally worth it), but when I see that 17% of players didn't intervene when Kate was being harassed, I'm like, "those assholes!" I guess I'm not entirely going through this playthrough as a goody two shoes, although I'm definitely not going to leave behind any evidence of snooping. The choice making is really great in this, making me weigh potential short term vs long term outcomes.

 

Might be a basic question but have you played FFX and FFXII? Those are classics IMO, and the latter is overlooked a bit since the story and characters were a bit bland, but it has some really satisfying gameplay. Aside from that, not sure TBH. It's a bit of a JRPG drought until FFXV, Nier, Valkyria and Persona 5 get here. Not too long of a wait though! Can't wait to get into P5 and experience the series for the first time.

 

If you aint hyped for The Last Guardian then we aren't best friends.

 

I've played X and loved it, never got around to XII though. There's tons of older "classics" I haven't played, I should probably just finally play Xenoblade Chronicles, but I'm feeling something a little more modern for now.

 

Rocket League Rumble is so much fun. Scored this goal the other night.

 

Ordered the last of us and the uncharted collection on PS4 from Amazon for 50 bucks. Can't wait to start them!

 

New Fifa demo is good. I thought the Journey story part would be lame, but the part that I played I enjoyed. I assumed you could make your own character and put them on whatever team you want, but it seems like you are stuck with this Alex Hunter guy. As far as the gameplay is concerned, it feels like they've made a few changes to make it worthwhile to get the new game and that it's not just a roster update. Wonder if you'll be able to score from corners this year...

 

I was late in playing that game and I was totally surprised with how much I loved it. So damn good. Love some of that music too, the Foals, Local Natives, Angus and Julia Stone.

 

FIFA feels the same as the last 10 FIFA games, so I won't be buying it again.

First time actually putting in an effort to finish it. I never got past the medical area in my previous plays. I was always too creeped out by it. This time I'm just like of like "eh, fuck it"

 

yeah, i've only ever gotten about halfway through it before it lost my interest. love the setting and atmosphere, but the gameplay just didn't carry it for me. always felt like the series was a little overrated, although i appreciate that it was one of the more thoughtful games of its time.

 

here is the thing for me though. It's hard to really change sports games. They can make small changes here and there but they can't make big changes like shooters can do.

 

That's true but compared to PES, FIFA's gameplay is awful. Every team plays the same way, players don't make runs so you're forced to play a short-passing, possession game. Just gets dull after two games where the AI doesn't misplace a pass. EA have focused too hard on the licences and making the game look like a broadcast and forgotten about the football.

From what I've seen of The Journey mode it looks like crap too. Good idea but I don't want to play some generic story, maybe next year will have customisation and more options of where you start etc.

 

Barthandelus kicked my ass again. (Still stuck on first encounter)

Edit: I'm definitely using the wrong strat. I looked it up already a while back but apparently I misremembered so I died and looked it up again after the battle so yeah I know what to do. Just saying I've made zero progress in this game for the last month or two because I'm so tired of this fucking stupid ass annoying half-hour-wasted fight. I have zero motivation to return to this boss fight because this game has not been what I wanted out of a Final Fantasy game. It's been enjoyable enough, yeah, but I think it's so stupid that there's zero exploration until the end of the game.

 

Picked up Bioshock today and ordered Recore through Amazon since I had enough credit to get it for free. Will sit down and play both later today and tomorrow.
