If EQ is a must, you should go with a stereo receiver and passive speakers. I don't know of many active speakers that do much more than allowing you to mess with the treble and bass with a tiny dial that doesn't affect sound too much.

 

I have bought vinyl that is listed as sold out but still let’s you add to the cart. I did last when I grabbed My Chem bullets from newbury comics.

 

Some decent sales on Merchbar right now. I picked up Colourmekindness for $18.

 

Such a good record.

 

Attic was amazing. Spent way too much money but I plan on going back tomorrow because they closed early for the holiday.

 

Anybody ever heard one of these Andover spinbase speakers in person before? I'm debating between it and the Ethos speakers that u-turn has for a bookshelf set up in a small room.

Picked up AVA Lifeforms (mint, magenta, black smush that looks SICK) and Mastodon Emperor of Sand this weekend. I don’t quite understand that the EoS on vinyl has a a songtitle change (“Roots Remain” is changed to “Eons”).

 

I would go with the Ethos if I had to choose between the two. Stereo separation is a bigger deal in sound quality than you might initially think.

Thursday sold out in 7 minutes. Not really into live albums so I skipped this one.

 

I had no idea standard black vinyl sounded better compared to all the color/splatter variants. Learned that one from Jack White and the Music Factory. Unless he was being sarcastic and I'm a huge dingus.

 

This is generally true.

But also, I like the pretty colors.

 

I'm not huge on live albums either, but I had to get a copy because Thursday is one of my favorite bands. Plus it comes with an immediate digital download so I'm looking forward to checking it out later.

Nowadays it's more on how good the pressing plant is rather than the actual materials.

And unless you're listening to your records on a super high end system you probably won't tell a difference.
