I will say, and maybe this is unpopular, I do like that there has been a solid slate of network sitcoms lately, if only because I sometimes find the streaming sitcoms reliance on saying “fuck” exhausting. Like, I liked “Peacemaker” and love “Righteous Gemstones,” but I just find its overuse a little grating after awhile. I understand that’s a supreme dork opinion, but I stand by it.

 

like when South Park and Chappelle's Show could say shit and they took full advantage

 

I am generally tired of profanity too. I take it as a sign of a lack of intelligence, which means it works perfectly when you are dealing with certain characters and situations, but in some ways I long for the network television days of forcing people to come up with workarounds to taboo words and phrases.

 

I’m not sure I agree with that but I always loved how they would perfectly hide the actors faces in Arrested Development when they used profanity

 

A well-placed "fuck" can really elevate a joke though

 

Abbott Elementary is really funny and sweet

 

So can a well-placed bleep. Parks and Rec was amazing at that.

 

My favorite use of the f word is in The Ringer when the dude says "when the fuck did we get ice cream?" and Johnny Knoxville can't keep a straight face lol

 

I was thinking about this movie there other day and how poorly it has aged

 

Emma Stone also gives one of the truly great on-screen fucks when Jonah Hill passes out and smashes into her head in Superbad.

 

Brad Pitt in Burn After Reading after he gets punched in the face by John Malkovich is a favorite “fuck” delivery for me

 

I guess that'll fit in this thread - i did not care for that movie at all

Totally. I’m not against its use. It’s more the overuse of it that I get tired of. Like James Gunn and the whole cast of “Peacemaker” are super funny, but it being used literally every other word was exhausting.

 

God, literally everything he does in that movie is comic genius.

The 2000 Keanu Reeves sports comedy The Replacements is probably the most blatantly anti-union movie ever made. Loved it as a kid, but seeing for the first time with adult eyes jeesh it's bad.

 

Have to drop this anytime the movie comes up. Killed me the first time, kills me every time.
