Senate is unfortunately a definite non-starter since this couldn't make it into reconciliation to pass with simple majority. Maybe you get a handful of Republicans, but you probably lose at least a couple of Dems from the wrong states too.

I'm not even 100% confident it would pass simple majority.

Don’t you have to consent to being filmed? I guess maybe not since people are often in the background of random videos but still I feel like if you’re a main part of a video you need to consent. I don’t know either. I was just assuming.

 

I do know that in an at-will state you can be fired for not attending a work function outside your normal working hours, so maybe it's not. I was thinking that it's far outside the scope of job duties and there's a video being made, so that's a lot of agency being messed with.

Thinking a bit more, I suppose even if it is illegal, a corporate lawyer wouldn't have too hard a time arguing that Andrew is actually being disciplined for the disrespectful conduct and profanity, not the refusal to participate.

 

Yeah, at least how I interpreted this, I think it sounds like it is during working hours so idk. But there could be some sort of law about consenting to being in a video online, so that might be illegal. I live in an at-will state and it's veryy easy to fire someone here heh

 

Very good point there, you might be right. I feel like in school, I've had to sign a consent form to be in photos so there may be some sort of legal protection in the job world

 

Regardless the whole thing is ridiculous and I feel bad the guy was actually reprimanded for that. Some people just want to do their work and go home and not deal with team building stuff or socialization at work.

 

So do the weed legalization and insulin price caps actually have any chance of passing the senate? Or are they both just gonna die to the filibuster and the dems head into an election having essentially accomplished nothing other than a watered down infrastructure bill?

 

On insulin, it's not a foregone conclusion one way or the other.
This might genuinely be a moment where the public can make a difference.
Susan Collins isn't exactly a dowsing rod for successful bipartisanship but still.

My company has a form, but if management wants to append a narrative report then it's usually just whatever header structure their ancient ass can figure out in Word haha
