Oh yeah, oh yeah, everything is terrible.

feel semi-decent about England and Canada's groups

naturally both will go out in said group stage now

A maximum of 2 European teams per group is allowed.

cause they only have rules around federations, no further rules from there. UFEA has too many teams to restrict one UFEA member per group so instead its two. But no additional rules preventing England vs Wales or Scotland.

Fucking hate the USA draw. Mexico might not make it out of the group with their recent form.

  5. Is Ghana still good? If so, group H looks pretty tough.

They’re the lowest ranked team in the draw.

  10. Not looking forward to Swiderski scoring a few goals for Poland and then being shipped away from Charlotte.

i highly recommend spending just about all of the tournament in the country that eventually wins the whole thing

how are the time slots for games chosen? it is done after the draw to try and balance for countries having their games at a reasonable time for their supporters?

Ecuador is the only other Western Hemisphere team in group A or B so we should be able to avoid getting any 2am or 5am start times, right?

They’re being done by media market, yeah. I expect our Iran game to be 8a or 11a EST, England and UEFA2 to be 11a or 2p EST.

Was it USA-Slovenia that started at 4am PST back in 2010? I was interning on the West Coast and adjusting the time to watch sports was brutal.

For England/Scotland/Wales it’s probably us lol

there would be zero reason to give the us a 5am PST game. could see them giving us the 8am slot once or twice so Ecuador can get the late slot, but all of our games should be 8 or 11 (actually I think Qatar doesn't do DST so they might be 3/6/9/12. But point still holds)

Then again, like you mentioned they did put England (UTC+1) vs Algeria (UTC+1) as a later game and forced US (UTC -7 through -4) vs Slovakia (UTC+2) to play at 4am so maybe they'll fuck it up here too for some reason too.

    I do not exist.

I think England’s draw is tougher than it seems on paper.

USA seem to be improving and it will be a good contest. Iran I expect us to beat but they can be competent. Wales/Scotland has the emotional impact which makes it a different kind of contest (see Euros last year) and even Ukraine could have that impetus due to the conflict (ie. We’re representing our nation at a difficult time and rise together).

In theory you’d expect three wins out of three but I am expecting it to be a more complicated journey.

Southgate will plan well and we’ll be tough to beat too.

After seeing the draw there's only one conclusion I can make from it.

    It's coming home.

The Irish guy at work sent a message to our group chat saying there has never been a match where he has wanted both teams to lose more than England vs USA aha

Watching a tournament in a different country is so great. I was in Barcelona for the last world cup and made friends watching games with Mexicans, Argentinians, Colombians, even Catalan anti-Spanish supporters. It was a good laugh,

Hate the draw of group B for fandom.

Don't see Mexico getting out of the group in its current form.

Feel bad for the venue workers of any USA game but especially the USA v England game. 10PM local start time is not gonna have a good expectation of American soccer fans.
