Right?!! I absolutely love them live and it's great that they seem to be winning people over.

They just got added to a date on the Eve 6/WATU tour and I'm kinda hoping they keep getting opportunities like this and that people keep listening after seeing them live! Great songs, great people, etc.

At this point in the game, I think tour announcements are the primary driver in the discussion. And I'm not sure there's been much in the way of "Riot-related" tours announced over the last few days...

I've been busy trying to map out who might replace Foos at Boston Calling and what the next DLC pack might be for a stupid computer game that I play. So I've been sleuthing, but I'm saving my Riot energy up for the next few weeks when things really ramp up and we start getting a feel for who the third headliner and direct support acts might be.

I will say, the whole “ticket sales are disabled” thing is on my mind. Like, how early would it have to be before the first wave for that to make sense for them to do?

    1 week? 2 weeks? A month?

I’ve never known them to release a lineup in March or April, but it feels like something has to be imminent for them to take ticket sales down now. Especially since they were the cheapest “floor level” MCR ticket in the US and I’m sure were still selling well.

2017 was mid-April, and I think that's the earliest in recent memory.. but several festivals in September have released their lineups, so it's possible they go earlier than usual to compete with the market (I think there's like 4 or 5 other major festivals that same weekend)

I think the pause on ticket sales has more to do with the MCR factor than anything else. The Misfits too, if I'm being honest about it. Because those tickets are expensive AF too whenever they play a show.

So you have two headliners with decent crossover and a GA ticket that's relatively cheap compared to what you might pay for a single headlining show.

I'd love to think it means we get a line-up earlier than usual - and maybe we will - but it also kinda just feels like they might have put the pause on because of the number of tickets sold to date.

    Give what you can.

I really do appreciate this thread being active all year. Ya'll are a blast to speculate with.

I'm in kind of a weird spot in that I'm moving out of Chicago late this Summer, so I've held off buying on tickets due to not being sure if I'd want to travel right back for this. The more I think about it though, the FOMO is going to be too heavy for me to not go- especially if Placebo ends up playing, since they're a band I never thought I'd get to see. I actually was going to just snag tickets this morning and noticed they're down until the announcement, so hopefully prices don't get too crazy once they're available again.

Idk about Anselmo, but AJJ feel like a pretty natural fit to me. I'd classify a lot of their stuff (especially their early stuff, but also including some cuts on their most recent album) as more folk punk than indie pop.

I totally second Drug Church. That would be a must-see set for me. Descendents and Strike Anywhere would be fun, too.

Misfits v. Bright Eyes would be a nightmare conflict for me, but maybe I'm the only one lol

UB40 is headlining a little reggae fest in Pittsburgh towards the end of August, checked their website and the only other confirmed date is September 18th at the Hollywood Bowl. It's a long shot, but possible for Friday? Maybe I'm reaching since so many others keep getting announced as out lol

    It's chaos. Be kind. Prestigious

I'd probably go Bright Eyes, but would try and watch a few Misfits songs.

Oh yeah, it's just speculation. They're missing from a lot of area fests and they've been suggested as a maybe.

apropos of nothing besides what ive been jamming to the last few weeks, im hoping one day could have a run of electro-funkrock bands. mainly like ghostland observatory, ratatat, justice, and/or broken bells. perhaps a stage headlined by lcd soundsytem or if the george clinton thing were to happen, or ideally for me, if faith no more got back on the line up

Chicago show is in April with Geese, and it's been updated but nothing will effect Riot

His tour ends before Riot but I really don't see Jack White at Riot this year, but I could see the Afghan Whigs (who last played in 2014 but I think Riot would book them again) & Be Your Own Pet as possible

I never got to see Be Your Own Pet on their first go-round. I'd love to see them on the line-up!

Duster just surprised released a new album. Does Riot ever book slowcore bands? I don't remember.

Not to my knowledge, but I wouldn't rule it out. Feels close enough.

It'd be a tough call for me. I had tickets to RF 2016 where the Misfits reunited for the first time in decades, but I couldn't attend due to work. As someone who really enjoys some Misfits stuff (mostly the first album), I've seriously felt like I've missed out ever since. At the same time, I enjoy Bright Eyes more than I enjoy most of the Misfits catalogue lol

Bright Eyes & the Misfits are not playing against each other, if I'm wrong Tifoil will probably buy you a drink

Yeah I just noticed be your own pet has a new ig account and have been decently active. Thats awesome! I felt like they had the potential to really blow up and then they just broke up right before they were about to get started.

I lovvvved Jemima Pearls solo stuff too.
