You are angry and frustrated. We have all been there. What I usually do is take a break and come back with a clear head. You are so close, you can do this.

 

if that's how you choose to look at it, ok. I don't think that's punishing you at all, it's literally just not coddling you.

 

I've just seen so many people complain about the smallest details in this game when they don't have everything handed to them and it shows why so many games these days hold your hand and try to make everything as easy as possible.

 

how is "you lost and now you don't have this resource anymore" not a punishment?

 

because you chose to use it ya dingbat. if you lost and they took the resource out of your inventory that would be a punishment and may be a valid criticism.

 

you've still lost it though... "lol you're bad enough you spent these resources and you still couldn't win now guess what those resources are gone so its even harder" is 100% a punishment and is not fun game design

 

But even then, if they implemented a boss that started taking shit out of your inventory, that would be a gameplay mechanic and something to engage with. They did something similar with the guy taking some of your runes at the castle, that shit is fun and interesting.

 

yeah I disagree, but also if you're getting your ass kicked so hard, go do something else. don't bang your head against a brick wall using up all your resources. are you using them every time or just when you get to the Elden Beast on a good run? it's about management of your own playthrough, using your head rather than just having the game make it easy for you. they're not even essential to winning the fight.

I guess we just disagree on what makes a game fun.

 

currently equipment loadout to try and max out everything put me a bit short on the stats needed for all my gear. I could obviously grind a few more levels or switch gear but its also just a symptom of the bigger problem that getting past the first fight just isn't very fun either. so they serve as a nice timer of "okay I gave it enough tries I'm gonna go play a game that I'm actually having fun with now"

 

I disagree with this statement. You are acquiring items that will help you.

 

if you pop a rune arc, essentially giving yourself about 40 levels, and you still can't do it, that's big "take a hint" time lmao

that said I too put that Elden Beast boss fight off for days if not weeks, so I get it, that thing was annoying. It wasn't even hard just stupid.

 

40 levels?! I never actually used them because I forgot they existed but do they seriously add that much?

They increase your base health/magic by 25%.

 

no, literally.

If you're using godrick's great rune it gives you 5 points to each stat, adding up to be 40 levels. (and keep in mind that also increases your resistances in kind)

I'm just assuming everyone uses that rune because it's frankly insane.

Maleina's rune is big Bloodborne vibes but at that point I had 120 hours in the game I am not gonna go fuck around with runes lmao, I just wanted it to end.

And now I'm sad it's over

I have exactly 80%, which is the most percent I have in any game.

I thought about getting the Platinum but I cba playing the whole game again right now for the other endings, maybe at some point.

 

That’s where I’m at. Also not gonna save scrub either. Or get all medallions and stuff.

 

The achievement/Trophies aren’t that bad honestly. Just getting all the Legendary items might be the hardest.

 

To be fair, a lot of people, myself included, just really want to play games to relax and unwind. There's nothing wrong with that.

That being said, usually when confronted with something they're not enjoying, most people will go do something else.

I have to admire clucky's determination to keep playing something he clearly absolutely hates.
