I think what makes me more fearful is the unpredictability of this campaign and the voters. I just don't feel as safe about a close Clinton lead than I did a small Obama trail in 2008 lol. as weird as that sounds

Haha nice...but ewww on that quote.

  5. I agree, but I try and even that out with knowing the GOTV and ground opps that Clinton does have. Day of that's going to matter a lot. But, at the same time, the amount of free press Trump gets matters a lot too. And I dunno if ad spending can keep up.

Too much Birdman speculation in this thread. Probably should just make a Birdman thread.

I just think that these polls wax and wane, and I truly do not think Clinton will lose, if for no other reason that invariably Trump will burst from holding in his idiocy for any length of time.

And for another frame of reference:

  14. What I think is interesting about 2016, is that everyone knows Trump is awful. Haha. That's why I have a working "ceiling" theory. The negative press doesn't hurt him anymore, it's only about trying to make him maybe slightly less awful and appeal to some worried white people. The negative press does seem to hurt Clinton. Drives people to 3rd party and undecided. But, by and large, it seems like Trumps shittiness is just built in already.

And oh, how worried people were. Folks, I honestly think we need some historical context for this, which I think will calm some of you down. What we're experiencing is a reverse of what occurred with McGovern. That laid the basis for conservative dominance for decades. Given the sort of stuff we're seeing on the ground, I expect very radical policies in our future. It isn't a given, but I think historically there will be a big swing in the other direction.

  22. Donald Trump’s new economic policy plan would be devastating to the climate
If you’re a voter who cares about stopping climate change, you really need to read Donald Trump’s newest economic policy plan.

Released Thursday, the plan paints a bleak picture of climate action under a potential Trump presidency. It includes things like completely eliminating the Clean Power Plan, the United States’ most robust attempt at curbing dangerous greenhouse gas emissions from power sources. It would also eliminate the Waters of the United States rule, a rule that would protect millions of Americans from water pollution.

Trump would also slash the EPA’s new standards for ground-level ozone, meant to combat public health issues like asthma. Environmentalists were already disappointed with the stringency of the new standards — it’s hard to imagine they would be pleased with an administration eliminating them entirely.

The plan would also halt any new federal regulations and require an agency-level review of all previous regulations, putting numerous important regulations, like the EPA’s new regulations on methane emissions from new oil and gas operations, or coal ash regulations, in peril.

Included in the leak was a list of high-profile donors from 2008 and the ambassadorship they received in exchange for their large donation to the DNC and Barack Obama’s Organizing For Action (OFA). Essentially, Obama was auctioning off foreign ambassador positions and other office positions while Hillary Clinton served as secretary of state. The largest donor listed at contributions totaling over $3.5 million, Matthew Barzun, served as U.S. Ambassador to Sweden from 2009 to 2011, served as President Obama’s National Finance Chair during his 2012 reelection campaign, and now serves as U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
