I like the album version of Sunglasses more too. I like the live version of Basketball Shoes more though.

Black midi at sleeping village in Chicago is one of the 5 best shows I’d ever been to and i didn’t even know them when i went.

This might end up passing Dragon New Warm Mountain for me. Totally insane. This is some of the most urgent shit I’ve heard in forever. It’s like the rush of every mid aughts album bottled up in 8 songs. My brain is like “remember when every single record felt like this? Yea I haven’t felt this way in like, ever” It’s the perfect distillation of my tastes. People have been trying to capture what Arcade Fire did on Funeral for 20 years, this is the closest by far (maybe even better tbh).

It’s heartbreaking that we won’t get to sing “Chaos Space Marine” with thousands of people.

My girlfriend was listening to Billie Eilish and after the album was done, I sang “She had Billie Eilish style” in a bad accent and she was very confused. The more I explained (that BCNR had that lyric in two songs on their album) the more confused she became. She asked me if they were a comedy band or if they were serious. I couldn’t really answer since I haven’t really dug into the the lyrics on this album. All I know is that this album rocks and I can’t get enough of it.

They're definitely serious but have a sense of humour.

new Ethan P Flynn EP: Universal Deluge, by Ethan P. Flynn

good shout for fans of BC,NR, not just because he's collaborated with them before. really idiosyncratic and cool sound, dude is fantastic

    Maybe so, maybe not.

I have generally been very much on the outside looking in on the post-punk revival that has been going down the last few years. I've tried them all—Shame, Idles, Yard Act, Fontaines DC, Ice Age, even this band's first album—and absolutely nothing hits for me.

    But this record...god damn.

And I'm sure this has been posted but holy moly this performance:

I don't know how its possible to not like Fontaines but fair otherwise. I cannot get into IDLES for the life of me, either

IDLES is a little too…. something for me. Fontaines is cool. They feel the most like a 90s band out of all these bands. Kinda think Dry Cleaning is the best one.

Squid are my secret favourite (most bops) but this is definitely the best album overall from the scene so far. Fontaines have something special cooking judging by that last single though. don't really like Dry Cleaning

  25. Bright Green Field is an incredible album, can’t wait to eventually see Squid live. Fontaines are amazing and I really like Dry Cleaning; the riffs are fun and Flo is funny! Shame's latest album is such a huge step up from their debut, they’re pretty special to me. This whole scene - whatever you want to call it - is very fun
