And there's zero reason to not trade for Olson. They must just be desperate to make another core four. No idea. Ain't winning shit.

I understand the emotional attachment to Gio and Gary but I think this makes some sense. *If* Donaldson can stay healthy then y'all have a third middle of the order bat who's a good defender too. Yanks offensive struggles last year were painfully bad at times and while you'd prefer to build a solid lineup top to bottom, that takes time and your high priced trio of Judge/Stanton/Cole ain't getting any younger.

I think it's a good win-now move. Of course you'd like to see them make another one for Olson too but maybe the As are refusing to let him go for anything other than a top top tier prospect and I still wouldn't drop Volpe or Dominguez

IKF is kinda washed tho

edit: and I think Donaldson, again WHEN HEALTHY, is just a much better hitter than Story is. Correa would be better sure but I don't think they're gonna be willing to pay his price even if they should just say fuck the tax

Donaldson will probably provide more value than Gary and Gio combined this year. IKF is at the very least a defensive juggernaut

 

apparently Ben Rortvedt is from Madison, WI, so that's pretty neat

 

As much as I like Gio, nobody is complaining about losing them in favor of other players. If I rooted for a team that could afford it in both money and prospects, give me Olson, Gleyber, Correa/Story, DJ. Oh wait they can afford it lol

 

If I made a top 30 worst at bats I've ever seen, Gary would have 19 of them

Number one would be the Met that swung at three pitches at the top of his helmet last year. Was that Villar? Lol

Just a thought here and keep in mind I’m never gonna defend a team like NYY not being willing to spend above the tax lol. But there might be some wisdom in making one big move like this and then seeing where the team stands come June or so. It’s not totally unreasonable to think that a decent number of the guys already on the roster might regress positively to the mean. And I really think that there aren’t many other teams that are gonna be able to get together a package for Olson. If he doesn’t go to the Bronx before the season starts I bet good chance he’s still available come the deadline
