Also, listened to Homeless Gospel Choir and I could not vibe with it. Tinny drums, nasal vocals, twangy guitars, just all of the things I hate about pop-punk.

I think if you liked Modern Baseball or The Front Bottoms, you'd love HGC but I always preferred pop-punk to either be fast and aggressive (TSSF, Wonder Years, Trash Boat) or polished and melodic (State Champs, Neck Dee, Waterparks). This more lofi, indie stuff never appealed to me.

I would say both Weezer and My Chem are meme-y these days. Weezer intentionally so, My Chem just a byproduct of social media users.

 

Yes, with the Pixies. That was a co-headlining tour. By themselves, they headline large theaters.

In 2021 Weezer had a #1 song on the Rock charts with All My Favorite Songs, in 2020 they had a #1 song on the Rock charts with End of the Game, and in 2019 they had a top 40 song with their Africa cover. I can't think of another rock band that's had more mainstream success than them in recent years besides Tame Impala and The 1975.

But I totally agree with you about MCR. In about 2 years once their reunion wave subsides, they'll be back to mid sized theaters.

How the fuck it's 2022 and the largest event company in the world can't let people buy tickets? I miss the days when I would just show up at the customer service counter at the grocery store to get tickets.
