I love neon bible but the suburbs is better IMO

My problem with The Suburbs is the filler. It’s about 4-5 songs too long. Neon Bible doesn’t have this problem at all. It’s a pretty much perfect 11 tracks, and the deep cuts are just as fantastic as the big singles.

yeah I mean I get that. its honestly splitting hairs for the first 3, they're all superb.

Either way, I hope I like this. If I don't' that stinks but ill still see them when they come to Chicago since they absolutely whip ass live.

I can agree here...I think there a few tracks on the Suburbs that musically could have been left on the cutting room floor but were added for the lyrical content/thematic elements....

I mentioned this on another thread but I am glad they took this break from the spotlight....I can see from this thread and others the overexposure was doing them no favors...I like the mysterious post card roll out...why are people complaining about that?

so true to the point where they peaked with the first song on their first album

Snark aside, admittedly even Funeral doesn’t hit as hard for me as it used to, but I can remember how fucking epic Neighborhood 1 felt when I heard it for the first time.

    Maybe so, maybe not.

Top five, likely top three, active live act (no order):

    Phish
    Arcade Fire
    LCD Soundystem
    Foals
    My Morning Jacket

I'll just abandon the band thread since this seems to be the one people like.

Definitely hoping this is better than Everything Now (which I only liked the title track and "Creature Comfort" off of) and Reflektor (which is another on the list of double albums which probably could've made one, single cohesive album).

I'm going to choose to take the first single being "multi-part", with the I, II, as a good sign.

Four new songs on their setlist tonight: The Lightning, Age of Anxiety, Rabbit Hole, and Generation A.

I don't love hearing songs for the first time in a live setting, so I'm not going to listen, but the comments on the new songs seem positive.
