Can’t imagine logging on to twitter rn

 

Wondering how every naive American in Ukraine i saw on the news last week saying "well my neighbors aren't panicking so i'm not leaving" or "well if it gets bad he Ukrainian military will protect me i'll be fine"

 

Zelensky’s address to the Russian people was really really good imo. Not sure if it’s been translated or dubbed or anything

 

He seems like a good dude and I really hope he can stay safe.

 

kind of feels like we tried nothing and were out of ideas

 

The 2021–2022 Armenia–Azerbaijan border crisis was an absolute plethora of info on how war in this century will be conducted... some absolute wild info/vids from that on both sides. Drones being used in a way never seen before.

 

I did not miss doomscrolling. But I feel compelled to read and see what’s happening.

 

Ah yes, it was an investigation on American soil that lead to an invasion. Thank you, Nazi Karen, I was so lost until now.

 

I mean I really dunno what diplomacy could of been done in the past 1.5 year to fix everything since 2014. Try not to tank the nord 2 pipeline?

 

I’ll admit to not following this all too closely but really feels like there isn’t anything we could have done to stop this tbh

 

Yeah that war proved in modern warfare Drones make conventional armored warfare pretty much irrelevant. Tons of hugely expensive tanks and APCs being taken out by much much cheaper drones like a turkey shoot.

 

Idk, kinda seems like Afghanistan might have been what pushed him over the edge.

what fucks me up about this sort of thing is we didn’t even need the US to say anything to know there was massive troop movement and buildup around the Ukrainian border. All you needed to do was follow grad students on twitter whose whole thing is tracking military movements

 

It’s spreading.

 

mmm definitely don’t think there’s a lot of weight to blaming the US/White House for failing to prevent this without violence

 

I mean Yglesias is the least surprising thing ever.

 

What’s the over/under on the majority of American media just sort of accepting this.

It's nights like tonight where I realize that there are many different types of people in the world. I've been wanting to just go to bed now for the last half hour or so, but can't look away from my laptop. I check social media briefly and see people I know partying at bars (on a Wednesday night, no less!)

I'm not judging or anything, more just wondering how they do it
