The more I think about this the more I think it is pretty screwed up. It wasn't like they were not going to make money on this tour and be able to promote their album.

My assumption is they saw they could make more money and have better sales with another tour but it still does not explain why they couldn't do both but who knows.

To me, its worse that they really screwed the band support they had and that seems really antithetical to who Buddy is(was) as a person.

Well 1. If they do both that's even more time away from his newborn.

Do you have kids? You never get those first couple months back.

    2. we don't know how badly he is hurting from the pandemic, a lot of bands suffered economically, now he has a family of 4, it's a big responsibility.

Also, where is this Rise Against/Used stuff coming from?

My only input which I posted about in the tour thread is that he’s known for months about the birth of his child and I don’t buy that one month out from the tour he suddenly realized his child was going to be born right when the tour was to start. He was well aware to the point if that was in any way a factor he should have cancelled earlier or not scheduled the tour (if he knew before the tour was announced). Also, even if the child is born before the tour, he would have known that touring right after your child is born and missing those crucial first few months of your own child’s life would not be good. At least that’s how I see it.

I was mostly referring to the whole “why not do both part.” He probably had to choose between the two and chose the one that falls when his album comes out, and is a bit down the line after his kid is born. Makes sense to me tbh. Again, I’m not gonna sit here and pretend I have the right to judge him on his financial decisions. At the end of the day it’s a business decision.

I’m sure I’d be pissed if I was in other bands positions. Like others have said it’s definitely a situation where you can see both sides.

I'm not gonna speculate anymore until we hear from Buddy. I'm genuinely that curious.

Took the words out of my mouth. If he was doing this for his new child, that’s one thing. It will be interesting to see what he says about the matter but I’m sure he is figuring out the best way to go about it. Either way, there are a lot of angry people out there.

I wonder if the tour will be cancelled or if they will find a replacement band. I prob would get money back if they bump it to a WCAR headliner since I just saw them for their last tour and not that huge of a fan to begin with. I'd love to see Counterparts and SYSC but not as openers for just WCAR.

will say that the band's being lit up in the replies to their 'happy birthday Buddy' tweet. I've seen nothing but condemnation and the childbirth excuse doesn't hold up - if it was the real reason he wouldn't have waited until a month out from the tour to pull the plug, leaving your three support acts in the lurch and seemingly screwed out of thousands of dollars. if you wanted to be there for that, sure, but you could have made the call as soon as possible after discovery of pregnancy, out of respect for the musicians and crew and fans you've fucked over with no regard for anyone's wellbeing except your own.

    this could get ugly

Wow. Ya reading the the tweets under the happy birthday post is incredibly awful.

  13. they need to address this as soon as possible and it won't be pretty but that's what happens when you use a flimsy excuse to fuck over three support acts, associated crew and fans. fuck this.

I don’t understand why the tour couldn’t continue on without them? Those 3 bands would draw a solid crowd still.

Yea I'm not entirely sure why the rest of the tour can't go on either tbh. Something doesn't seem right considering I haven't seen one announcement coming from either party.

The tour booked a lot of big clubs that the remaining three bands would struggle to fill. Hell even with SF the Portland venue was ambitious and would have undersold. With the SF fans requesting refunds this tour would bomb hard at the current venues. It’s too late to rebook everything I assume.

    Things have changed.

Senses Fail will announce the other tour this week and make some vague "unforeseen circumstances" post and that'll be it from them.

It’s even more fucked because it’s a co-headliner. Essentially a direct partnership with WCAR. It simply can’t continue without the other partner.

If you’ve seen Senses Fail since the Renacer era through today, the entire network of support acts have been majority of newer and younger bands comprised from metalcore or hardcore. AKA the peers of this tour’s openers. They’ve now burned the bridge to the lifeline of their touring opportunities. No one will want to tour with them. They will have to resort to opening for legacy/nostalgia lineups.

This band has been resorting to legacy/nostalgia stuff for years now so they should have no problem cashing in on those opportunities

I was going to go to this only to see senses fail so I fully understand how this screwed the other bands.

Only time I would see this band anymore is if they were playing a heavy dose of Renacer and PTTFYH material

So I'm never going to see this band again lol

Counterparts haven’t issued anything but Brendan is being very vocal on his own Twitter. He has ties to A LOT of bands. Not a good move.

I feel like this is not going to have much of an effect on Senses Fail at all. This band has reverted back to the sound of their earlier albums because most fans didn't like Renacer/PTTFYH and they've leaned pretty heavily on LIEY and SS in setlists or full-blown tours of those albums prior to the pandemic. This band is going to continue milking their nostalgia because that's pretty much all they are interested in doing at this point.
