NFL rule are fucking stupid and mandate a team can only have one helmet per season.

Yep, for safety reasons. They mandate that each player can only wear one helmet for the entire season. That's why Atlanta hasn't worn the throwbacks in three or so years.

Its not even for a valid reason, they could've made this some kind of lgbt awareness or charity donation thing but nothing, just "oh look its funny colors hurhurr"

I want to see the giants color rush aways. I feel like ill love them. Those 80s unis were fire.

I think the color rush is fine, but the only reason they have to do it is because the current uniform policy is so restrictive on what teams can wear through the season.

If they would just allow these as alternates, and let the teams choose if/when to wear them, then they wouldn't need a silly promo.

The Packers just gave David Bakhtiari a top 5 tackle contract.

I will never understand Ted Thompson. You let go the best player in the league at his position when all he was commanding was $5-6/year, but you spend $13/year on a tackle who is considered by no one to be top 10 at his position. What the fuck, man.

Also, ESPN's power rankings today were absurd. Green Bay was #1 and Houston was top 10, but Pittsburgh and Denver were like #5 and #8 respectively.

Meanwhile the Dolphins fell 7 spots to 28 after being, what, a minute away from beating the previous number 1 Seahawks in Seattle? ESPN power rankings are dumb anyways

if i had a bunch of extra money to buy secondary-team merch i would totally get that color rush Antonio Brown jersey

Steelers are one of few teams I think the color rush jersey is actually a lot better than their regular jersey.

Jaguars falling 4 spots after they played better against the now #1 Packers, than literally anyone expected them to, is BULLSHIT.

It's a good thing "power rankings" are meaningless

  16. Was the Jags game really that surprising? I thought it was well-known that the Jags have a lot of young talent and were capable of making it an interesting game? I mean, the line was 4.5 and they lost by 4.

I think at this point most fans assume
the Jags will be bad every year, which is dumb.

  18. He's a good left tackle and he's only gonna get better - he keeps Rodgers clean

He may clean up his penalty problems, but unless he suddenly becomes longer and stronger, he's going to continue to be a middling run blocker who is susceptible to bull rushes.

i mean, considering we lost 51-17 to Tom Brady, 38-27 to a Saints team with basically no defense, and even gave up 31 points to a depleted Chargers roster last year, holding a healthy Packers offense to 27 points and keeping that game within reach is still a big, notable improvement that many didn't expect to reveal itself as early as week 1.

Last year they'd have had 27 by the mid third quarter if not earlier and we'd already be in "air-it-out" mode to try to catch up

  22. this is the exact same thing that TT did with Sam Shields a few years ago - it was seen as a slight overpay but now it looks like a great contract - TT's doing the same thing with Bakh - we have our LT locked up for the next five years and that's huge

Gus addressing the Jags' zero sacks against Green Bay:

"one of the things we looked at was the number of explosive plays they had. If you look at last year, it was about 6 a game, but when Jordy was there, that number jumped. And he's back this year. And a lot of those explosive plays, came off extended plays [by Rodgers moving around in the pocket].

So, we decided to go with more of a controlled pass rush. It's tough on the defensive line. They were getting after it but we did not turn them loose. It was not a game like that. It was more of a DETAILED pass rush, to really try to constrict him, to force him to stay in the pocket, and even when we did that -- you'll see it on film. There's times we got upfield too far and he still extended the play.

So to put it on the D line, and say 'boy we just really didn't feel you', I would have to take the blame for that if you didn't feel that. Because of what we went in there trying to do. I think they had 5 explosive passes, and we kept them to 199 yards passing, and only one of the explosive passes came off an extended play. That's what we were hoping, that we could control that enough to keep those explosive passes down. It just wasn't enough."

It's crazy to think about the balance you have to have between not playing too conservative and not playing too aggressive against top notch QBs. 199 yards passing and only 5 15+ yard passes is actually a solid defensive performance against Aaron Rodgers even if you didn't sack him, and it's not like Eddie Lacy ran wild either. Ive honestly been studying the heck out of this game for future solutions, because this was a rare time I thought the Jags played really well the entire time and as Bradley said it just wasn't enough.

They didn't just lose though. They got absolutely shitrocked by a team with Blaine Gabbert at quarterback. They got 0 sacks against a patchwork 49ers offensive line. They got shutout by a team who was expected to have a bottom 16 defense. And what's worse, that was perhaps the most winnable game on their schedule. I can maybe see them possibly winning 4 more games on their schedule the rest of the season (Dolphins, Bills, 49ers again) but it doesn't get any easier than Gabbert and the 49ers.

They're going to be really really bad this season, and Gurley and Donald can't save them from that. Like I said, there's a real chance they ended up giving up a top 3 pick next year.
