When I was applying for jobs I would take the job description and pull out some of the key words and make sure I used those a few times each in my resume. It was simple stuff, mostly mirroring word choice (contracts vs. agreements, procurement vs. sourcing, etc.) but it was annoying.

Oh yeah I always did that too; I'd grab keywords that the job posting used, and try to swing them into the wording in certain paragraphs whenever possible

In my last job I was legal counsel for our HR team on non-employment law stuff, so all of their contracts and events. I spent a lot of time talking to the recruiters about what they did, how they used that software and what they wanted it to do. Gave me lots of tips.

Thank-you cards can be a good strategy because most people don't do them, so it can help you stand out. Obviously, this only matters if you care about getting the job. If you don't care about getting the job, then fuck it, but if it's a job you actually want, I think it can be a smart idea. And it's not like they take much time.

Cover letters are pointless, nobody reads them.

  10. As someone who has been on the hiring side of things, I'm not sure a thank-you card is ever going to sway someone's opinion. It might be "nice" or whatever but it's not going to be the deciding factor in you getting the job.

Anyway, it's the employers who should be thanking the candidates for spending time and money on interviewing.

All these job strategies that I've tried and still no one wants to hire me :/

I was only looking for a job for a year though, so I think that might have hurt my chances for those I mentioned it to (not that I advertised it or anything, but it did come up in an interview or two when directly asked)

If it's a smaller company then a cover letter might be a good idea because someone might actually read it. Especially if you have an interesting story to tell or a good way to connect your career path to that job / company.

When I interviewed candidates I went out of my way to be nice to them, especially because we'd sometimes put them through like 5-6 hours of interviews in a single day. It was inhumane.

I am a contractor, so I have clients, not an employer per se.

Along with banning cars, we should absolutely ban single family homes.

Fortunately, they kind of go hand in hand. Single family housing neighborhoods tend to be further away from retail areas, so they require cars. Multi-family neighborhoods usually are closer to or integrated with retail centers so there's less of a need to drive to the grocery store or a restaurant.
