I know nothing about football, but my dad invited me and my brother over to watch the Super Bowl and told me he ordered a bunch of food. He’s pretty far to the right, but whatever, it was free food. He was in the kitchen getting the food when the national anthem was on. He came into the living room and says “I know you boys aren’t sitting down right now!” and tells us all to stand. He has his hat over his heart and I thought he was about to cry. It was the most awkward shit ever.

Gonna ask for a raise today knowing it'll get denied. Whatevs, I'm hopefully moving to another job next week. Any negotiation tips?

It certainly helps to have another offer lined up because you'll feel more confident and you can ask them to match it if you actually want to stay. If they deny it then you can just leave. Two of the biggest raises I ever had were when I recieved another offer and went to my boss with it and they matched both times. They always try to take advantage of you unless there seems to be real danger of losing you in my experience.

How much would it cost the government every year to decide to make all public colleges/universities free from here on out? Certainly it can't be anywhere close to what we spend on our military budget every year. If Biden canceled all student debt, and made the public college free decision, he would instantly win the 2024 election. It would do more to adding to our current and future GDP than anything else he decided to do during his term

I feel like I remember cost estimates being around 80 billion a year? Sounds low to me, maybe that was just community colleges?

It's also confusing because so many times cost gets reported on what it costs over 10 years instead of per year

I'm on Day 9 of being sick. First 4-5 days was just mild congestion, no big deal. Then came Monday morning and since then I've had pain in my throat, big hoarse coughs that hurt, pretty much lost my voice + the congestion still. I've tested negative for COVID 3x (I've had COVID before and it wasn't nearly as bad as this). Went to doctor on Tuesday and he thought it was just a bad sinus infection (I've had dozens of sinus infections, nothing like this). On Day 3 of meds, doesn't appear to be getting any better which leads me to believe whatever it is is viral.

Maybe a cool new COVID variant that hasn't been detected yet?

Looks like around $79 billion (per year) to cover tuition at all public colleges; I think it would be obvious that it would be better to cover room and board/supplies as well. Like, cover everything it takes to have a student at a public college. The benefits to our economy and overall student livelihood would be enormous. This is such an obvious thing we should and need to be doing, that I don't get why we didn't do this decades ago. Here in Norway it's been free for a long time, and they're reaping the rewards in so many ways

Russia may very well still invade and all, but good lord, how many times are you going to say the exact same thing and be completely wrong about it. Russia has been going to invade "in the next few days" for the last month

  24. Illustrative of how you should treat all these narratives. This is Bojo getting confused and knowing he's supposed to say things are false flags but not understanding that a bombing attack can't be a false flag if the Russians literally used their own flag when doing it. So, if the attack was made under the Russian flag, but it was a false flag, that only leaves this possibility.

How did we not leave the "But . . . but . . . that isn't even CRT!!!" line of argument in 2021? We lost that fight.

It doesn't matter that what is being taught in schools is not what CRT, in its original version, actually was. It's been redefined, and we need to fight the actual fight of showing that skin color does still matter and it is necessary to teach that to kids because it's the only way we can get it to matter less (and, hopefully, eventually not at all).
