And all i'm saying is a museum of a sport should probably have a little more appreciation for the third phase of the game than a dude on chorus who refuses to acknowledge he's a falcons fan lol

Nick caserio is really just using lovie as an interim until Matthew slater retires and becomes head coach

    I agree with this

Don’t agree with this. Sure, it’s a thinner talent pool just cause there’s not a lot of guys who take that job THAT seriously, folks with excellent tackling and ball tracking skills usually end up playing defense.

But I would bet that Slater actually was head and shoulders a better tackler who took better angles and wrapped up more consistently than anyone else. I mean that’s how you keep that job for 11 years. And he had 4.29 speed and enough basic wide receiver skills to get to punts before they bounced to the endzone. He probably did a lot of things that 30-31 other coaches around the league wished their gunner would do more consistently.

however, I just still think that’s not enough to get into the Hall. Where I disagree with @EntryLevelDave is it’s not a museum of lore, it’s an upper echelon of players who had the most impact on the game and were the most loved by fans around the WHOLE league. I feel like Slater isn’t quite that. Like just because the Hall of Fame has a museum doesn’t mean the entire concept should behave like a museum and document a specific example of everything

Adam Viniatieri is a career 83% kicker. Justin Tucker is 91%. Its like comparing Hines Ward to Jerry Rice. One is enshrined in the memory of a team as a clutch player who had a lot of key moments, but its easy to forget Viniatieri straight up sucked a few seasons in Indy. There was genuine discussion on whether he'd get cut.

He's the 29th most accurate kicker in history, the only reason he'd get in is career longevity which got him to 500+ FGs.

In b4 Dave says “then I hope Fred Taylor never gets in, he’s more just Jags lore”

I have been very restrained and haven't even cracked a joke about Tony Boselli thank you very much.

Basically, Vinateri missed as many XPs as Justin Tucker has missed FGs.

Also, and this surprised me, Vinateri is only a 2x Pro Bowl kicker? Kinda hard to argue a guy the players and fans didnt think was the #1 kicker most years of his career is worthy of the HOF

To be honest if anyone deserves it, it’s Boselli. Fred is my favorite but Boselli legit was scary, like, how is an offensive tackle that good. I would say he’s the closest anyone’s ever come to Anthony Munoz.

Lol no. Just no. Adam Vinateri is a hall of famer. Get out of my face.

Because it hurts me, fuck us for over drafting Fournette and then not even resigning him while our division has JT and Henry

  15. No both teams are rid of the players that made me hate them.

Still not actively rooting for the Bengals. Won't be mad If they win though.

Oh, I think he'll get in. But it'll be Jason Witten style, where its the combination of being beloved + longevity and not because he was ever actually the best most of the time.

Its just funny though, because the guy that followed him was better. If Gostkowski got like 3 more seasons, he'd be at 500+ FGs and 87% made. Vinateri wouldnt even be the best K in Pats history.

    The rivalry is back on

I’m not sure why, maybe because he never really peaked as the best RB in the NFL at any point in his career — I just always forget about Martin. Until I looked this morning, I would not have been able to tell you that he was easily a top 10 all time NFL rusher

There's more to the word best than just raw numbers though. Gostkowski was never going to surpass Vinny if he played 35 more season because if you were down 2 with a 45 yard field goal to go, you had to watch Gostkowski and you could already pop the champagne with Vinny.

Weird how the Titans and Colts still have nothing to show as of late for having two of the best RBs in the game

    Lets Go. Prestigious

ya'll are gonna see how mad I get if they start snubbing Cam Wake for the HOF

he had 39 (!!!!) sacks and 8 FF in 2 CFL seasons and 100.5 sacks and 22 FF in 11 NFL seasons

Vinateri should get in for sure. He has too many huge clutch moments, and was a large part of many great teams.

There's not a lot of Pats coming up that I'd really go to the mat for.

    ***Sure Fires***
    Brady, Gronk, Vinny

    ***I'd Vote For***
    Slater, Wilfork

***Do I get to pretend slot is a different position than WR?***
    Welker

    ***Nah***
    Edelman

I doubt Hightower or McCourty get a lot of love on the ballot, they're kinda the pro-typical ring of honor guys

    The rivalry is back on

Like I think of non-Hall of Fame RBs like Shaun Alexander and Priest Holmes more affectionately because I remember how incredible their peak was, whereas Curtis Martin has a bit of Frank Gore syndrome where he’s always there and very good but never had that 2 or 3 season stretch where he popped off relative to the rest of the league
