A video for Red Moon is coming on Friday at 11am. Seems like it’ll be of them recording the song at Press On Studio

It seems weird to single "Spud" out as an outlier, even if the band did say it started out as a joke song, or whatever. It's got some humorous lyrics and sure the mouth harp adds an extra layer, but you can very clearly draw a line back to their other songs. The real experimentation on this, to me, is the run of "Heavy Bend" through "Blurred View".

I also think that the reason Blurred doesn't work for me is solely personal. Theres a restaurant around us that plays the same 10 trip hop songs over and over again any time we're there, so I have an aversion to the genre.

    EDIT:
And "Wake Me Up to Drive" obviously. What a cool song.

The yelp towards the end of "Little Things" is so good.

    agreed

and Spud Infinity is one of the most affecting songs I’ve heard in a long time, wild to me that it reads as a joke in half the writeups I’ve seen

Album is really magical, makes you laugh, makes you cry. It’s got a funny but beautiful kind of grace to it. I thought the album title was a joke when they first announced it but now having listened it actually perfectly describes it. Title track might be my favorite one here too, good on Max and James for playing those icicles lol

Can anyone who paid more attention to the live tracks post some of the best/different performances from this album? I know a lot of the live versions differ from the album cuts.

The album title is like a Zeppelin lyric. There’s a mythical quality to songs like “Dragon” that evoke a similar feeling to those strange LZ songs for me. They don’t sound alike but there’s something there, I just can’t articulate it.

That last sentence is me trying to explain why “time escaping” reminds me of Radiohead’s “15 step.”

That makes sense, lot of fantasy and spiritual elements in Plant’s lyrics. I also think Big Thief evokes similar imagery from Song Remains the Same, intentionally or not

The album title has a similar vibe to me as when Wilco was working on the whole love and the working title was "Get Well Soon Everybody." Kind of outwardly ridiculous on first glance but definitely implies a specific feeling when you think about it for another half second. (Also the kind of title that IS a joke if the album sucks, haha.)

I have I think the only recorded version of the “Wake Me Up to Drive” debut but I have no clue how to send it.

It’s so much faster than the album version. And at one point the bottom drops out, Adrianne was having a blast playing that one.

The lyrics from the Songs LP say “dragon in the new warm mountain / didn’t you believe in me?”

The lyric in "anything" is actually a reference to the album title. They had already decided on that album title prior to her writing "anything"
