am so happy this band exists.

I look forward to the point when the singles start to meld with the rest of the new ones, but right now my brain is just so much more familiar with those so I've been gravitating towards disc 2.

also the lyrics on 'the only place' are just incredible. and the guitar playing. jeez. a perfect song.

OH and Mat Davidson/Twain on 'Red Moon' is so perfect. If they ever add a 5th member it should probably be him!

 

Wasn't able to catch them at Pitchfork, but when I saw them in 2019 it was my favorite show of that year.

 

Not a comparison of the two artists' music at all but I think the last time I remember being this sure about how incredibly good a record was so quickly after hearing it was maybe BI,BI. And that's wild because I know these new songs will grow on me too...loved "Little Things" when it first dropped but love it way more now

Has been interesting to see them grow. They were the opener at the 2016 show. The 2019/2021 gigs were probably the best since they have grown so much in confidence / cohesion as a band. Looking forward to the Boston show in April.

 

I had to miss them on the Capacity tour.

I saw them twice last year (Indy and Pitchfork) and capped it off with an Adrianne solo show (Bloomington).

 

Only seen them at Pitchfork but it’s one of my favorite sets ever

 

I’ve listened to this about nearly four times today and that doesn’t feel enough to come up with my thoughts.

Ordered the vinyl immediately today and it already was sent out for shipping

 

This is one of those records that just feels like an instant classic when you put it on. Reminds me a lot of the first times I listened to Carrie & Lowell.

 

It’s a…masterpiece

 

Yeah not many albums can match this first impression, even if I did hear a bunch beforehand. It’s so good. Their best album (so far), worthy of all the praise. An easy AOTY contender Etc. etc. etc.

 

Just playing all the singles right now in my backyard. It’s 70 degrees right now and can’t wait for this album

 

Glad I didn’t overplay Little Things my god what a track

 

im glad i haven't listened to any of the singles, or whatever they're calling the releases they've been doing, yet

 

I have overplayed it and that's still what I think when it comes on

 

Uh so they just went live on the band account and played a completely new song, meaning a song not on this album.

I like most of that pitchfork review but why do the songs that sound like country music automatically have to be "hillbilly" and inauthentic. Idk just rubbed me the wrong way. Sure some of the lyrics on Spud are genuinely funny but it's a weird way of talking about those songs. OBVIOUSLY nowhere near the level of bad as most slurs but I don't think hillbilly is a super cool word to use in 2022. Just my $0.02 as someone who grew up near the border between the regular south and true Appalachia

 

They went live 4 times but I missed the first two. Do you know if they were both of the same song?
