I wonder if even kids are interested in watching the pro bowl anymore. I remember being really into watching my favorite players during the pro bowl as a kid. I feel like it used to be kind of competitive but that could just be naivety I turned this on for a couple of minutes just now and I think watching practice would be interesting.

I liked the Pro Bowl when I was a kid. I went to the one in January 2000 when my family briefly lived in Hawaii (my navy dad was stationed there for 2 years).

    Jags had literally 5 starters:

    Tony Boselli, T
    Jimmy Smith, WR
    Tony Brackens, DE
    Kevin Hardy, LB
    Carnell Lake, S

and Coughlin was the coach and Mark Brunell & Leon Searcy were backups as well. But I remember that being the time I was disappointed by football the most as a kid.

The week prior, the Jags best season of all time ended - we had just got kicked out of the AFCCG by our rival Titans. And then Manning / Edgerrin James / Marvin Harrison all made the Pro Bowl too - I wanted to see Jimmy go off, but he only got two catches because our other rivals were too busy circle jerking each other lol. I didn’t understand defense or offensive line enough to be excited by the other Jags lol… and then my summer camp left before I got to see Brunell in the second half

Ironically AFTER that was when I finally started to realize how good the Jags roster really was / started to understand football better, because I started playing NFL 2K1 on Dreamcast. I had played Madden before but I sucked at it.

Jags were the highest rated team in the game lol we had like a 96 offense and a 94 defense. But then we went 6-10 that following season and the whole late 90s jags roster aside from Jimmy & Fred fell apart after that. (For the record I switched back to Madden for Madden 2002 but didn’t get good until Madden 2004 & 2006)

  5. I feel like Steelers fans are so desperate for a QB they are talking themselves into Rudolph isn't that bad or to bring in trubisky. It really is something.

What’s everyone’s saddest and happiest sports moments ever?

both of my happiest are when we beat the Steelers in the playoffs. 2007 & 2017. Those are actually EASILY the best Jaguars victories of the last 20 years.

My #3 is actually not a Jags game but it’s when the Giants knocked off New England at the end of the 2007 season, passionately hated the Patriots and my favorite friend to watch sports with at the time was a Giants fan. We ran outside in the snow in short sleeves and no socks just shouting and cheering lol. Extra cathartic cause we both watched the Pats win 38-35 against the Giants in the regular season two months earlier

I’m especially curious if any super bowl winning team’s fan favorite is not the super bowl. Also curious what @EntryLevelDave & the Steelers fans’ favorite superbowl is

  10. When #4 Pitt beat #1 UConn in 2009. The absolute wildest sporting event I'll ever go to. And it was the second time we beat them that season.

Or when the Steelers beat the Cardinals and I lived in Pittsburgh.

Saddest is rashard mendenhall fumbling lolol

Saddest Jags moment, I mean, 2017 playoff loss to NE still stings for sure haha. Both because of the bad calls and because we still should’ve won anyway if Nathaniel Hackett wasn’t an absolute dolt. I was in Jax at the time too and had just met several Jags defensive linemen at my job, so I was really IN it. And from that point we went directly onto a four year descent into the worst team in the league lol.

At least we now have the coach that won that year. In hindsight Bortles should’ve never got that far with those shitty receivers and offensive tackles…the 1999 roster deserved it more. But that was a championship level defense for sure.

The Soak at Doak was probably my favorite sporting event and being there was a huge part of it. That iconic picture of tebow will always be burned into my memory. I would put it above Ravens/Niners Super Bowl because I was so hungover for that and I don’t like Beyoncé so the halftime show was a bummer.

saddest would be Jeffrey maier catch in the ALCS. I was deep into baseball at the time and it was unfathomable that something was allowed to disrupt the entire game and go unchecked. More recent, the cundiff kick or Lee Evans drop. At the time, dukes miracle minute against Maryland in 2001 was a killer, but now that I don’t really care about college basketball anymore I’m over it.

As a casual Maryland basketball fan, I was mad about the Miracle Minute even though it was 10 years before I watched UMD basketball lol. Fucc Ducke.

I was a Gators fan back then because I’m from Jacksonville. Of course a couple years later as I got older I learned I fucking hate Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow and Aaron Hernandez etc… so I couldn’t care less now. But I definitely watched the Soak and then my mom and I went to go see the Championship game in a movie theater

kinda weird we have college-team crossover here. Now I’m neither a Terps nor Gators fan really lol (I’d like the Terps to be good but am not that committed to them when they are usually bad lol)

Happiest sports moment is Mario Chalmers draining the 3 to send the Memphis/KU game to OT. Especially hilarious because I was 14 hours into what was planned as 100 straight hours awake for a documentary I was making...

Their first round loss to Bucknell might be my saddest, that team was SOOOO good and just fell apart. The Bradley loss was bad, but, its was a really young team that got hot and got overseeded and needed that loss to get right.

same re terp success. Would love to see locksley build them up and now that turgeons gone maybe bball could become relevant again. They have a great lax team with former students on it that I have legitimate reason to cheer for, but I’m a Hopkins fan and could never go for the terps there.

By the time the Eagles won the super bowl I wasn’t very emotionally invested in the team at all. I was more thrilled with any victory over the Cowboys during the 90s and early 2000s. Unfortunately there were a lot of rough years for Philly sports in general at the height of my fandom. The flyers had a good team for a few years but that was also the height of Redwings dominance so they had no shot and got swept when they met them in the finals. I was still pretty pumped when the Eagles won the nfc championship in 2004 though so I think that’s the one.

Happiest: The Geauxt Season, Back to Back Cups, (ironically) Scott Frost's UCF Exit
Worst: Mettenberger trying to play on a torn ACL, anytime Nebraska plays Wisconsin, most of the Jaguars

No not like I was. I still like seeing the flyers and eagles win and follow them but there isn’t any elation or despair anymore haha

Magglio Ordonez walk off to send the Tigers to the World Series is the happiest sports have ever made me. For saddest moment it’s like 18 Lions moments all tied for the worst.
