We reach for the longest shadow

Wished I liked both of these releases as much as everyone in here seems to. This one feels more varied but it's still hit or miss for me. I'll await a new full length that builds off of The Amulet I guess.

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for that album, based on this interview:

I really liked A Dream About Love and somehow this one might top it? I said it before with ADAL, but it's incredible that these both come across as a radical departure and a natural progression of their sound. Buzzhenge is an absolute feat for the band.

some of this actually kinda reminds me of Avalon Remixes Ant did with Colin back then

Honestly as it stands I think I'd rather have traditional Circa too. I appreciate them wanting to take a new direction after all these years and obviously it's better that they make the art they're excited to make. I think the songwriting is a little too meandering for me with this project.

Still, like I say I'm already enjoying this one more than ADAL.

y’all are setting yourself up for disappointment if you think we’ll ever get “traditional circa” again

Didn't say I think we will, I can accept they're moving on. Doesn't mean the new stuff pushes all my buttons is all.

I'm way more interested in these EPs than anything they've done on the last few albums. Probably since BSN honestly.

someone tell this band to go buy a wall of analog synths for their next release. some of the patches here sound pretty daw preset.

  13. I really loved the first EP but this second is not connecting as easily. Hopefully it grows on me. The first EP was my favorite thing since Violent Waves.

The 2nd EP just seems to have less variety between the tracks? Harder to pick standout moments but maybe over time. It's enjoyable but not hitting me the same as ADAL initially

Since I heard the Electric Moose demo I really didn't like the intro synth part I think it clashes with rest of the song. I don't know what it is it just sounds like a 2nd song playing at the same time. It gets better later on when it gets pushed further down the mix.

Only listened to once, but I feel like a lot more of the songs grabbed me this time than my first listen of ADAL

fuck, it's worse... they are cancelling the tour

    Hi all.

It breaks our hearts to announce that we are officially cancelling the BSN Anniversary Tour. This includes the dates that were being rescheduled for the summer as well.

There are multiple factors at play here but most pressingly Anthony is currently struggling with a mental health crisis and unable to be on tour at this time.

A focus on self and family is of the utmost importance right now therefore postponing or rescheduling any further doesn’t feel like the right thing to do.

We're absolutely devastated over this and feel awful for everyone it affects. We hope you will accept our most sincere apologies and regrets with this news and the last minute nature of this announcement. All refunds will be available at point of purchase.

Oddly enough we also have new music that was released today. Although we are somber & wounded in this moment, our art and this community have always been guiding lights of hope & healing for us in times like this. We look forward to better days where we can celebrate overcoming these hardships together.

    Love & Gratitude

Yeah, that's I was referring to too, just hadn't pasted since it was private on Patreon.

It must be a really hard time for the other guys in the band too. Cancelling & postponing this tour over & over. I don't think the other guys are active in their other projects? So hope that aren't struggling too much.

  22. Gutted because this was gonna be my first time seeing them and it's so sad to think that it's getting canceled because of his mental health. Really hoping he finds some time and space to heal.

Sad news about the tour... just saw it on Patreon (been following them there for about a year, definitely worth it and I've got a few cool goody bags in the mail, patches/pins etc). I hope Anthony is okay and has not had/will not have a major relapse. Wishing them all the best as they work through whatever the issues are.

Regarding the music and the new EP, I go back and forth on it. I appreciate it for what it is (at least the last one that has been out long enough for me to digest), but it's not what I want and I'll just have to accept that. I am huge fan, (Juturna tattoo) and have generally loved every album, but these last 2 EP's aren't what I expect from Circa. Every album has always had a song or 2 like this, but a whole EP of this sound (let alone 2), it's a bit much. I think I'll go back and listen to individual tracks every now and again, but as whole EP's front to back, they're too bleak, too somber, and lack the signature elements that made me a fan. There was a lot of breathing room and an ambient vibe to Juturna, but at the same time, it had great intricate dueling guitar work, and energy.

I'll stay locked in to the patreon and support whatever they do by at least checking it out with an open mind but if they release experimental EP's like this every or so, their music may just not be for me anymore but we'll see. The EP's may grow on me, they aren't bad at all by any means. Just a shock to what my brain wants from this band.

It does feel like perhaps we've seen their last LP now. They scrapped an entire album from the sounds of it in 2020 or so.

I really love this ep, it sounds really fresh and a good change of pace for the band imo. Sucks to hear about all the issues they’re having though, wishing them the best.
