    Day 3: Nothing Left to Lose by Foo Fighters

    Went into this album under the impression that this album is a mellower and country-tinged Foos album. That’s pretty much what I got. From what I could tell, “Learn to Fly” and “Breakout” were the only tracks I’d heard before and I was happy to find that there are some gems on here. I really appreciated the album's pacing, effectively trading off between mellower songs and rockers. Unique guitar tones are spread throughout the album provide the songs with enough personality to avoid sounding too samey. This was released between two of my favorite FF releases and I’m sure if I heard this 15 years ago when I was first getting into them it would have gotten frequent play. Favorite tracks were “Stacked Actors”, “Aurora”, and “Headwires”.

    Easily their best-ish album, maybe after The Colour And The Shape

    What’s the best Foo Fighters song and why is it “Best of You”?

    Today was a really good one. I put asterisks next to the ones on my list that really resonate with me; Beverly Glenn-Copeland's Keyboard Fantasies is certainly one of them.

    I don't want to detail the thread here, but I guess I've always been under the impression that most Foo Fighters fans don't like Best of You?

    I kinda hate it tbh.

    But yes, Aurora is incredible.

    I feel like Best of You is a song that you get into Foo Fighters with, but then it gradually slides down your list once you explore their catalogue more. And yes, Everlong is undeniable. Was my ringtone in middle school.

    Backstabbers by the O'Jays is good, as expected. "Time to Get Down" is a highlight

    Day 4 was Electric Warriors by Winterhawk, a Native American hard rock / glam rock band from 1978. Had never heard of them before and there's an interesting article about them here, which I also enjoyed;

    The Story of Native American Metal Band Winterhawk

    The music itself is political, and pretty fun hard rock songs, with a bit of T-Rex and a bit of Thin Lizzy and a bit of Black Sabbath. It's not remarkable or revolutionary musically, it's familiar territory, but worthwhile listening to nonetheless, especially considering their background. Clearly an interesting band, and this is a good, solid album.

    Checking out Saosin’s Along the Shadow today. Love everything Anthony Green does and older Saosin but completely missed this when it came out.
