Chris Brown ain’t going anywhere until there are actually consequences for people working with him. Considering that seems to not be a thing that’s possible, get used to seeing him continue to work with people indefinitely.

I really wonder if the industry would be so quick to rehab Chris Brown's reputation if his victims weren't always black women. And it speaks volumes that Drake and Kanye are the first in line to help him get that next hit

If only someone could get him and other COVID deniers to sit down and watch The First Wave, maybe they’d soften their stances about how deadly all of this is

They’d just say The First Wave is propaganda from the liberal media. These people can’t be reasoned with and always have an out and a “source” to point to for their confirmation bias

I don’t listen to Pinegrove but my two cents are basically this response from the last time they were brought up in here, but replace the artists mentioned with record stores this time:

Expecting a record store to know exactly how the situation stands now just seems like…I dunno, an unrealistic expectation. As mentioned above, to know how the situation stands you would have to be following the right people, and more specifically have been actively following them when the article(s) came out, or be a member of this forum, and a lot of people, including record stores, are not clued in like that.

  19. Though I find Evan’s and the band’s personas grating, I like and listen to and pay to see Pinegrove.

I don’t think anyone needs to justify *not* supporting them, but I do wonder if anything would satisfy people who would still scoff at their being featured at a store / growing in general. Knowing that their situation was mediated privately before being brought into limited public light, I have a hard time understanding the hostility that I’ve seen about their/his ability to keep making music.

I don’t actively use Twitter - is that probably a big reason for my disconnect…?

  20. There are third party sources that claim the situation was not properly mediated and that the person coerced by Evan does not feel comfortable with him retaining a career as a touring musician

Just to add on my above comment:

I think if there are ever new developments in the situation it is absolutely okay to bring them (Pinegrove) up in here but with no new developments it just feels like…what new information or thoughts is being added to the discussion here that hasn’t been said a million times prior in this thread?

Seems weird to police the thread instead of just ignoring the post if you didn’t garner any new info from it, but that’s just me! Much easier than having that convo for the billionth time

they’ve got their niche little (maybe not that little but certainly not as big as it’d be if none of this happened) fan base but it seems like none of the bands they were associated with when they were coming up and buzzing big time pay them any mind or tour with them or promote them (besides maybe some, but it’s certainly not how it was when they were on run for cover) and they kind of exist in a space that’s divorced from the scene that they came from. not that I blame anyone who gets bummed that they still get publicity and are around and kicking (though personally I don’t mind, they’re boring as sin now and have been for a while all the bullshit aside, not that it matters what I think but if people enjoy the sonic equivalent of paint drying that’s on them) but it’s one of those situations where it is what it is and it kind of sucks but it’s not like there’s anything anyone can do about it besides just pay them no mind, or inform people of the issues with them if you feel so inclined, but even then they’re so blah to me I don’t even feel the need to waste my time. the optimist in me just hopes the victim has found peace with it and given how much time has passed maybe they have, not sure if anyone has heard anything in that regard recently but I’m sure they would rather just be left alone than asked in 2022 if they’re still okay with pinegrove existing.
