  1. 30hrs into New Vegas and I haven't finished the main quest line yet, let alone touched any of the DLCs. I'm doing a lot more of the side stuff, though; apparently in my first playthrough I'd already beaten the game at 25hrs.

I've been traveling by myself for the most part, hoping to bump into companions more organically, but so far I've only met Boone and Raul. Ditched Boone early on because it felt like he kept getting us attacked by Legion assassins and I didn't have the means to deal with them at the time; idk if he was actually coded to do that but I had less of those attacks after dismissing him.

Oh man I love New Vegas much. I wish I had a gaming PC to play a fancy version of it.

Doesn’t the GamePass version of New Vegas run in 60fps and have other visual upgrades?

I’ve only made it a few hours into new Vegas before stalling out several times but one day I will get fully into it and complete it. I’m like the biggest Skyrim fanboy in the world so it’s weird a fallout game has never sucked me in enough to keep me playing but it’ll happen eventually.

ive been having massive issues with frequent crashes when playing Valhalla, my PC is pretty powerful and exceeds all the minimum requirements (besides RAM which i only have 8 gigs of), it absolutely should not crash as often as it does. it runs pretty well most of the time too but can stutter here and there and a lot of times it'll stutter and then freeze and crash. i uninstalled and then installed again (or rather, its going right now) but if it doesnt get better im gonna have to bail on it for now because its frustrating to be having to relaunch the game every hour or two due to a crash. i was having similar problems with far cry 3, a game from 2012, but since its much shorter i was able to finish before it was completely unbearable. im wondering if it has something to do with ubisoft's pc ports but who knows. its not something i experience very much at all with other games

So after I started my new job I kind of fell off gaming for a bit while I acclimated to working life again. Now that's it's been like a month, I'm wanting to get back into the groove.

I've decided not to pick back up on Indivisible though. My enthusiasm has kind of waned a bit. Not that it wasn't good; it was, and I'm sure I'll pick it back up again in the future.

Anyway, I'm starting over fresh. I've decided to do what I've been doing for anime and letting a random number generator decide my next pick. One spin to choose a category on Steam, and one spin to choose an actual game.

For example, first spin gave the category M, so it will be a game that starts with M. Second spin gave 40, so it's whatever the 40th game is I have listed under M.

Winner is... Minute Of Islands, which is funny because I just got this game recently, so I guess that works out.

that’s so annoying, I’m like 20 hours in and otherwise really, really love this game, it’s just so frustrating to be like rolling up to a raid about to fuck shit up and crash and take ten minutes to relaunch and load to my save and have to trek to the raid again

  13. yeah I unfortunately didn’t play more of it until I got it on console. I’ve found that most Ubisoft games (within their client) runs like total shit and it seems like it’s a pretty common thing. I had so many issues with Far Cry 6 crashing that i never got past an hour in.

it’s running pretty well after a fresh reinstall and much smoother than usual, fingers crossed because like I said I really love this game a lot. Surprised it got hated on as much as it did.

    Player's Log: Minute Of Islands.

So... I'm liking this so far, with one big caveat, which I'll get to.

It bills itself as a puzzle-platformer, but I haven't really encountered anything I'd call a "puzzle" yet, and there aren't any physical challenges to the platforming either. It's pretty standard stuff. It's more like a 2D side-scrolling narrative.

Without saying too much about the plot, basically you're going to different islands to right whatever wrongs are there. The island I was just on, I had to find and restore three air purifiers.

Along the way, you find these spots where you can "remember" memories, and these act both as collectibles for the game and also expand the lore of the game's world and why you're in your current situation. There is quite a bit of dialogue in the game, and no way to skip it, even on repeat playthroughs from what I understand.

Visually it's pretty nice-looking. Very cartoony, not really sure what it reminds me of, but it's pleasant to look at. There are some fairly disturbing scenes I've encountered though, and it unsettles me not to know where this game is going with that.

So far so good, right? So... the caveat is that it crashed on me, not once, but twice. It keeps track of your progress in collection, but it still sends your character back physically a bit of a distance depending on where the game last saved. The first time was annoying but fine, the second makes me wonder if this will be a pattern.

I'm stopping for now, since I was done with the first island and was planning on stopping anyway before the game stopped for me. I'll pick it up again tomorrow and see how it goes.

Just got to Lunden (London) in Valhalla, still fully engaged and like the story decently enough, Sigurd sort of became insufferable in a forced way but I do like what they’ve done with Eivor and how his personal story is progressing.

this is probably the best open world I’ve played just in terms of atmosphere and realism. It feels very alive with a ton of things happening at any given moment and with side quests turning into little world events you’re more than welcome to just ride on by or make a mental note to come check whatever’s going on out later. I’ve actually done very little of the world events but I do go out and raid for resources and wealth often which again is a brilliant way to integrate side content that feels meaningful as that’s how you progress the settlement and your gear. yeah, it’s a tad bit repetitive, but the taking over outposts model has been in Ubisoft games for so long that if you don’t like it I’m not sure why you’re playing an ubi title to begin with. for me, it’s enjoyable enough that the repetition doesn’t feel punishing and the gains made make the grind worth it, which is all an RPG grind really needs to be. if the rewards of a grind are worth it you won’t hear me complaining too much.

this has been my experience with fallout and the experience of a lot of my friends, moreso with 3 and 4 than new vegas. the setting, the worldbuilding, the clear care that's gone into the weapon and armor designs in every game, it all feels like it should be My Thing, but something always keeps me from following through. maybe it's the main plots - you can call oblivion and skyrim pretty by-the-numbers fantasy plots but they're still more fun to play than those first few hours of fallout 4, where you're trying to balance looking for your son with wanting to explore the world and play with some of the systems. furthest i've gotten in new vegas is taking revenge on chandler and even then it feels like i kind of...did what i wanted to do in the game
