As a fan of their games, this is super disheartening to hear, although not surprising. I hate that so many companies are like this, both speaking as a fan who wants to support the hard work of creators and as a human who cares about the wellbeing of others.

maybe im wrong but it feels like blocking the deal would leave working conditions at activision blizzard much worse off than if the deal goes through and microsoft can come in and turn it into the (supposedly) decent working conditions microsoft studios tend to have, relatively speaking anyway. now that doesnt mean the deal is worth it and suddenly good but i guess its one bit of a silver lining you can glean from it

 

I agree that working conditions can really only improve, just sucks that the side effect is Kotick makes a bunch more money, but I guess he was always going to

 

yeah i mean it all fucking sucks and workers are still gonna have to organize and push for progress but i feel better about it happening under microsoft than leaving activision blizz on their own, or getting bought out by someone with the same issues they have

 

If the deal goes through, expect any unionization efforts at ABK to be busted swiftly. As it stands currently, they were making promising progress on that front. An organized workforce will do far more to improve the conditions at ABK than being absorbed by Microsoft.

And also, further industry consolidation under one platform holder should be blocked immediately for monopoly reasons alone.

But there’s little to no chance Diablo 4 and (one day in 2065) Overwatch 2 will be on PS5.

I’m sure it’s going to be a very fluid situation. Xbox want Game Pass on every available platform. If Sony continue to reject it going forward, Xbox can say “we tried.” Reading into comments like these too much over a year before this deal even closes is kind of silly.

Also, Warzone continuing to exist and evolve on PlayStation is “keeping Call of Duty on PlayStation.”

 

If Microsoft doesn’t bring back the next remakes of the Tony hawk games the deal will not be worth it and I hope the Xbox series z folds
