This is true, but they also kept Cap's WWII backstory and didn't fabricate that. My point is that this is supposed to be our world. I'm not sure how changing a historical event from a real world one to a fictional one really makes a difference in the end. Either you think the scene made its point or you don't.

The difference with Sokovia is that they're in real time destroying an entire country; it's probably more sensible to destroy something fictional in the present than to say "Russia is destroyed now in the MCU".

 

See for me, that wasn't my reading of that scene. I didn't read it as "Phastos made the atomic bomb", I read it as "Phastos sees what humans have done with the technology he was giving them along the way and now regrets ever helping humans to advance". Like, that humans wasted his gifts on instruments of mass death and that made him swear against ever helping them again.

 

that is also the reading i had on the scene, that it was more him turning his back on humanity, but that does not make it better

 

All they had to do was set that scene in almost any setting besides the literal ashes of Hiroshima, immediately after seeing it erupt. You could even have Phastos mention the bomb, or he could have a newspaper with a headline or something. Like, pretty much anything within reason, outside of what they went with.

Never once been entertained by a Snyder movie. Enraged (his horrendous mishandling of Watchmen, Batman, and Superman), sure. But never entertained. Terrible excuse for a filmmaker. This movie has way more heart in it than anything he’s ever done.

 

It’s not a superhero movie but his dawn of the dead is really good.

 

Also it’s okay to just admit you’re a marvel stan and will enjoy anything they shit out into theaters or on disney+ instead of constantly acting like they’re putting out quality stuff.
