My friends and I are hosting four nights of double-features leading up to Halloween. This year, it's Planet Terror/Death Proof, Rocky Horror Picture Show/Creepshow, It Follows/The Fly, and Krampus/The Cabin in The Woods. The Cabin in The Woods is so so good and not even close to being a straightforward splatter flick.

I live for Halloween, haha. I go to the Spirit store anytime I'm having anxiety. My fiancee and I go to Halloweekends at Cedar Point every year. We're even having a Halloween-ish wedding, haha.

 

The nearest pop up Halloween store is an hour away (I swear 90% of my posts consist of 'X is an hour away...') but it's my first time having my own place to decorate so I wanna go a bit overboard. Tried looking online and wasn't taken by anything. I need to browse the decorations irl!

 

I'm mixed on Cabin

 

I really hated this movie haha. After I watched it, I wasn't sure how I felt. But after sitting on it, I only grew further away from it.

 

Pop up Halloween stores are awful to be in, haha. Cool stuff but not a fun environment

 

But back to the ED directors cut. I'm certain I remember it originally getting hit with an NC 17 rating. Then it got cut down. Usual fodder we fans hear. So I'm excited to see the uncut version. I specifically waited to buy the Blu Ray for this cut, didn't anticipate it would take this long. Had I saw that Target steel case tho, I wouldn't have been able to stop myself haha.

 

I love CITW, one of my favorite more recent horror films. I still remember walking out of that theater so happy.

Also, I saw The Disappointments Room today on a whim because Kate Beckinsale was in it and wow what a snooze.

 

I can't believe DJ Caruso still gets work. Disturbia was fun, but it's nearing 10 years old. He should just sign a contract with lifetime like Sandler did with Netflix.

 

So jealous about the Halloween wedding. I tried to work my wife up to it, but she wasn't having it.

 

I wondered the same thing, he also directed the XXX reboot/sequel/whatever that comes out in January. Maybe someone somewhere owes him a favor or something.

 

Anyone have local theatres doing anything cool for the season?
Capitol Theatre here in Cleveland is doing their annual 12 hour movie marathon with Drag Me To Hell, Re-Animator, Trick'r'Treat, Piranha 3D, Evil Dead II and Pieces.

 

I've somehow never been there; may have to fix that for Trick'r'Treat at least.

 

Seeing Don't Breathe, let's see if the hype is real.

 

Over the Garden Wall is awesome. I loved it.

 

You're The Worst is just too good, especially that episode.

 

It's a pretty cool event, they have a local artist create custom posters for each film and run retro trailers/have giveaways during intermissions.

i've never seen the first ghoulies but i'm about to watch the second because it sounds way more enjoyable

 

Going to watch Hostel tonight. I realized recently that Hostel to me is like pineapple pizza: I'm not even sure that I've tried it, but I've always seemed to have held an unfair opinion against it, so I might as well give it another go.

 

Just watched 'Let Us Prey' which stars Liam Cunningham who plays Davos on Game of Thrones. That was... something? I think I liked it, definitely very entertaining throughout.

 

I think that's the only one I've seen. It's the one that takes place at an amusement park, right?

I haven't seen it in a while, but I still think it has some legitimacy in the horror genre. I don't like how it quote-unquote jumpstarted the torture porn trend. I saw the sequel and just thought it was unneccessary. Also, I may be in the minority but I don't consider Eli Roth a hack. Though I have not seen Knock Knock or Green Inferno yet.

 

Yep. I have about 20 minutes left and it's pretty bad but a lot of fun, and I love the creatures.
