I think they used him for a short livestream once when lockdown first began, but other than that he's apparently been out of the band since 2017 and won't be on the new album. Not sure if they'll continue as a trio with a live drummer, or if they'll get a full-time replacement.

To be fair, that first point is the position of a lot of prominent doctors and epidemiologists.

The second is certainly shitty/concerning.

 

Yeah true but I think he was using that as justification for playing the show during this COVID/Omicron surge, and that’s part of why he’s getting a lot of flack for what he said.

Also it sounds like he said COVID is not bad as well at the show

It's disappointing whenever anyone downplays the dangers of the pandemic, but I'm also not going to give shit to anyone who's literally just parroting the line coming from the Biden admin, who's "following the science" - like, if you aren't terminally online or you're just an average liberal, "don't fear the virus, get vaccinated, live your life" is *literally* what you're being told by your leaders soooooooooo I can't muster up anger for a bunch of twenty-somethings repeating what they've been told.

 

I don't know how you can look at the state of the world as it currently stands and be like "yeah covid isn't bad". He deserves all the criticism.

 

I feel like slowheart’s quote was missed where he said the dude has downplayed the virus this whole time. There aren’t receipts but idk why a known and trusted user here would post that without it being true haha. It doesn’t really sound like the guy is just parroting leadership. Him openly being a loser on stage about it is probably indicative of other things he doesn’t think are a big deal

But tbh it’s 2022, no one is turning to knuckle puck guy to help them form an opinion on the pandemic lol. People will either agree or disagree based on their already formed opinions. Not really a big deal

 

Yeah apologies if my response came across a bit too abrasive, I just don't buy for a second that he is simply just following the tone of the president. You can say 'I got covid and it didn't really affect me', but doing so without also acknowledging the fact so many people across the world have died and every country has suffered in its own different way as a result of it feels very cold-hearted and myopic.

 

My aunt had breast cancer and in reality, they caught it early and it wasn’t “that bad”. Does that mean I am not worried if I were to ever get it? No, obviously. What absolutely stupid, ableist and diminishing rhetoric to use your own anecdotal experience knowing almost a million people in your country alone have died.

 

Also seems really weird when his career has already been impacted by covid and now relies on covid not getting even worse.

 

Thank god they're all vaxxed, now I know that Harry C. is safe when he pals around with them at their shows
