I could not believe it when they had the mass of suicide divers near the end. Even though the fight sequences were probably the most underwhelming aspect of this, the movie still felt both more sentimental and more viscerally violent than the originals

The idea of populating the Matrix with bots who could be activated to seek and destroy any target at any time was so cool. Also the bots were clearly integrating with regular people because we saw one about to get in bed with a real human before jumping out the window. Reminded me of They Live a bit.

that’s what I mean. He’s just not an intimidating villain. He was great as “the therapist” in the beginning.

The Analyst being basically an evil social media CEO a la Zuckerberg or Jack Dorsey was great imo. The undercurrent of misogyny (that becomes overt at the end once he’s lost) was a nice touch.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

NPH is a great actor and he was one of the better parts of this. I honestly feel like people can't look past his HIMYM role or something, he's a lot more diverse than he gets credit for

  12. I think it was done on purpose that NPH and Groff are meant to be outwardly less intimidating

Just finished Revolutions. It was okay, which is better than I remember it being. The battle of Zion would be better if we had spent a little more time with these characters at some other point. I do love the swarm movements of the sentinels, it’s quite terrifying. The final showdown with Smith and Neo could be shorter and a little more constrained, but at least it wasn’t a billion Smith’s vs Neo.

Gonna find some time to see this one soon.

yeah on my re-watch i fast-forwarded through like 90% of the Neo/Smith fight. just needlessly long.

that's funny because on my most recent rewatch of Revolutions I thought the final fight was actually shorter than I remembered lol

  17. I honestly think this is probably the best Matrix sequel, followed closely by Revolutions. All four films are at least a 7.5 for me though.

Kind of a mess, kind of awesome. I enjoyed watching it, that's for sure, but wouldn't be interested in any other sequels.

I think Jupiter Ascending is good. It’s not great, and is their worst movie, but I’d still say it’s “good”. Would be even better without Redmayne.

lol my opinion is that jupiter ascending contains the only worthwhile redmayne performance
