That part should have been the original Morpheus.

  2. Looking over the cast list...
I love that Lana snuck in some Sense8 cast members. I knew that was Freema!
Oh, that's why Bugs looked familiar, Jessica Henwick was the actress who played Colleen! I think I knew that but just forgot. I never did watch Iron Fist, but I did watch The Defenders.
I kinda like that Yahya, Jonathan Groff, and NPH are like prettier, less threatening versions of Morpheus, Smith, and the Architect. Ergo. Vis a vis. Concordantly.
Love that Merov was just completely unhinged.
Also love that Jada is back. Niobe is like, what, 90? and maybe bi? Aging makeup is always awkward, though
Probably the only disappointment is that Carrie-Anne didn't get nearly enough screen time being a badass.

It would have made more sense.

The casting in terms of who returns just feels off. Modern franchises sign their actors to these long multi-picture deals so I guess we have gotten used to more continuity. Not having Morpheus or Smith, even in some altered roles, is a weird decision, especially since you still have the reality-bending nature of the Matrix to make it happen. Niobe and the barely recognizable Merovingian are not adequate replacements.

Didn’t they reach out to Hugo Weaving and he turned it down? Where as Fishbourne said they didn’t even ask if he wanted to be in it. Just seems odd they wouldn’t even ask him.

Story wise as well I feel it would have made more sense to have Morpheus in that role.

Why actors and filmmakers say they aren't working together and the reality are often unrelated.

I think Fishburne is in good health and is actively working, so why not bring back one of the stars of your series, especially since his character was the only one you don't have to revive? It is either money, or one of them found the other impossible to work with anymore, or scheduling.

This movie is fascinating in that it has utter contempt for its own existence, the audience watching it, and the people paying for it… all while still doing a really interesting job at trying to tell a story that ultimately fails to critique why it would being contemptuous towards those things because it wants you to love it and clap at the right nostalgia beats. It’s not bad. But it’s not good either. A lot to think about.

I counted like 7 sense8 cast members and that feels pointed

Fishburne not being in it is kind of crazy considering him and Reeves were in the third John Wick a few years ago.

It is the same thing they did in Jurassic World, which is to mock the very idea of yet another movie while also making sure you give them your money.

Yup, but they forgot to have fun.

Yeah, nothing quite as mesmerizing as Jimmy Buffett running from a pteradon with a margarita in hand.

The cameo that spawned a thousand Halloween costumes.

Speaking of random four second cameos, a lot of the extras in this movie at times quickly resemble original trilogy players. Anyone else notice that? I think I saw Cipher and Mouse at one point.

Bug was probably the best addition. In the finale, the foursome really works in the way the main three did in the other films. The trailers made it look clumsy, but the scene where Morpheus has no idea how to respond to gunfire makes more sense in the movie.

Really dug this one. Need to see it again though soon.

Even though there was only around 20 people in my showing, people kept coming and going and walking in front of me. The guy in front of me kept checking his phone. Just an annoying crowd despite its small size.

I don’t understand how someone could come away from this movie thinking they weren’t having fun. Every person involved looked like they were having a BLAST, especially Lana behind the camera.

Is it explained how Trinity has powers now? Did I miss something?

also, during the rescue how was she still in the matrix after getting unplugged? I don’t quite understand the plan and what they had Bugs do during that part.
