Very surprised the MCS tour hasn't been rescheduled yet tbh.

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

Justin made a statement today that the tour’s still going through. But we’ll see…

That's good to know. The only that has me anxious is that there are no COVID restrictions in place for the Grand Rapids date.

i saw a tweet thread from i think the drummer of counterparts saying that live music as we knew it probably won't be back for another 5 years, and i'm inclined to agree. as much as i enjoyed the handful of shows i got to go to this fall, i think bringing back shows already was clearly premature.

Venues should go double vax + booster + negative test within 24 hours (or less) prior to entry. While that would not stop bands from catching the virus on the road (i.e. while traveling from venue to venue), it would help curb covid spread among the attendees in the crowd.

Guess I should just be preparing myself for disappointment in a few months, huh. Hopefully TWY anniversary tour will still happen...but right now? I'm not optimistic.

Not sure if this has been said here yet but I’m hearing rumblings of a potential New Found Glory/ Four Year Strong tour next year

  11. I honestly think we should consider the fact that maybe not *every* band is being responsible on tour in terms of masking and isolating. Especially on off days.

Definitely this. I have a feeling some of these band dudes are catching COVID, not from venue staff & audience members, but just from going out-and-about without masks.

Seeing pictures from shows where a lot of the crowd has their mask pulled down (and are not actively drinking) is the issue, and while that's largely on attendees to keep their masks on, I would venture to say in some cases it's partly due to the culture of the artist performing. I mentioned above how Julien Baker's shows were the highest masked shows I've been to and that's probably because the type of crowd she attracts care about protecting each other and masking up. Same with Jeff Rosenstock, he's made numerous speeches at the shows and on social media about ensuring that masks are being worn at the shows and his shows have been highly masked and the entire tour was COVID free (like Julien's). Obviously there are cases where artists catch the virus and are cautious/attract crowds that care about protecting others, but...if bands/musicians are not regularly reminding their fans to mask up and protect others...I'm not surprised those acts and their fans are catching COVID.

Almost went to a show in Chicago on Friday, didn't go because the band I wanted to see the most dropped a few weeks prior. I saw now that the headliners posted on FB that one of the bands had members test positive after the show.

This thread is always my happy place, I hate when it gets depressing in here.

In one little shred of optimism, Jeff Rosenstock wrapped up a six week tour with no cancellations due to COVID, in part of efforts of mandatory COVID vaccines and face masks.

  22. Honestly the most entertaining rap show I've ever been to, and bro barely even sang the whole time. That's an achievement.

Lately I’ve felt guilty and stressed about the shows I have attended. Then I saw this tweet last night and felt better. I think about all the bars, restaurants and parties that have happened with no mandates of masks or vax. So with live music actually trying I didn’t feel as bad.

To that point, hardcore and punk are basically COVID super spreaders because the culture is to have people on top of each other, singing, moshing, sharing the mic, stage diving and such.
