Where are the ads. I paid for overcast during the 1.0 era but not since it became subscription. Do you think that's why I haven't got them?

Went with the 7 in jet black at 256GB. Trading in my 6 for an estimated $220. Sticking with the 2-year agreement model. Yeah, I am leaving trade-in value on the table, but my total out-of pocket cost (taxes and standard upgrade fee) was $468.59. I will take this phone for just under $250 for two years. Plus, I don't have to do monthly payment setup. One cost now to my bill and then get made whole on the back end with credits to my account. Easy enough.

  3. They come up as a banner on the top, but yeah, if you paid for the in-app purchase in year one then they don't show up for you. I got one for a minute and had to restore purchases to make it go away. Dark Mode is also now available to everyone and the patronage is now only available as a $10/year subscription, I believe.

Out of my curiosity, why not take the payment plan at 0%? The future value of the money is worth less, it's like taking out a loan for free, plus getting $650 trade in. Maybe I'm missing something though, don't know

Mainly because I don't want to move off the 2-year cycle. Plus, you are still making the monthly payments for the phone and then getting a credits back. Doing it this way, you just make one payment and get one credit back. Keeps the books cleaner. I pay my parents my share of the family plan, so having multiple payments and credits mixed in on the phone bill with five people just didn't sound very appealing. It's a nominal difference monetarily speaking, but it's just more convenient for me to roll this way.

Have not used that. I've been all over the place with them lately. Mostly use Byword on Mac, have Editorial on iOS devices, and have tried out Scrivener/Ulysses but those were kinda overwhelming haha.

  10. Lots of people love themselves the Ulysses recently.

I like TM because of all the extra things you can do with it, sorting, formatting, quickly wrapping text in code, and all sorts of manipulations that I do on a pretty consistent basis. And I like how stupid simple it is.

I do a lot of text editing, manipulation, each day. And I don't always wanna do it in something like Byword which is more just for ... writing ... I use this as a notepad, text editor, opening files, even sometimes fixing code or news posts, or just writing out some thoughts really fast.

Yeah Byword and Editorial are good for writing reviews and whatnot. Might check out the TM beta and see how I like it. I have plenty of time to spend on trying new apps for the time being haha.

Pre-ordered the Peel case for my iPhone 7. I saw some brief mentions of them earlier but knew about them. Decided to give it a try now. Has anyone had them before? Good? Bad? Just ok?

  13. Great for avoiding scratches. Currently have one on this iPad for when I use it out side. Like right now. Haha.

I liked my Peel case on my iPhone but over time it stretched just a little, which made the fit not as snug and let a good amount of dust/lint in. Ended up switching back to my silicone case from Apple even though I liked the Peel case more. I noticed that they said they made changes to the plastic with these new cases to make them sturdier so I'll definitely give them another shot when I get a new phone.

Oh, awesome! So is there a slight buffer between surface and phone screen if you choose to set your phone down screen facing down? I like to do that sometimes if I'm out post run hanging out and don't want my screen flashing with different notifications. I love the sleek/minimalist look. The price point is very reasonable, so it's fairly low risk.

Been using it since I got my 6s when it came out and it's my favorite case I've ever had by far.

Keep seeing a lot of backlash regarding the iPhone 7 and I keep thinking why? Was a solid conference I thought and whilst the iPhone 7 hasn't changed loads on the outside on the inside it's quite a step up.

  19. I wish more people would have watched the conference (though you can't really expect everyone to watch a two hour keynote to be fair). I thought they did a great job justifying the headphone jack thing, and I was skeptical going into it.

I too thought it was great.

The only disappointment to me was the lack of Mac news.

Actually I think they did a terrible job in that front saying it was time to move on. They could have talked about how these advancements they needed more room in the case and they felt like because of that they like the benefits outweighed keeping that Jack.

So for those of you who have used either the Apple iPhone Upgrade program or their carriers yearly upgrade program for the iPhone, thoughts? Thinking of switching carriers and I want to know which is the best one to use

It was painless for me, and I had three options. I'm sure it would be two options for someone switching over. Either do the monthly program or pay straight up. Either way, Verizon as of yesterday was shipping about end of September, depending on the color and storage choice. Process was painless online.

Anyone know how long Verizon is gonna be running that deal where you trade in your iPhone 6 for a $650 credit?

I want to say I saw 9/30, but check Verizon's site just to double check

Is there a catch to this? Can I do this and then get a 7 immediately even though I'm not eligible for an upgrade?
