Yeah, I don’t know why it’s a murder-mystery level dissecting of what manchin said, he’s been a no on it since biden took office.

 

Dems 2022 midterm strategy:

1. Continue to have a raging pandemic but pretend that it doesn't exist
2. Because said pandemic "doesn't exist" anymore, start up student loan payments again
3. Give direct payments to parents, cutting childhood poverty almost in half for 6 months, then letting it expire, allowing childhood poverty to double again
4. Do absolutely nothing about climate, which is many people's most important voting issue at this point
5. Allow fundamental rights like voting and abortion to be taken away due to the strange worship of a centuries-old Senate procedure that isn't even in the constitution

I don't know about the rest of you, but this surely sounds like a recipe to avoid the standard midterm losses that the party in power always sees, no?

 

Yeah, I kind of think that his moving the goalposts was because he was trying to get to the point where it was so watered down that progressives would kill the bill rather than him. Now that the progressives have shown that they're willing to cave to most of his demands, it makes sense that he's finally pulling the plug.

Like, there's no way that he's just finding out about the whole plan to limit the number of years programs are funded for to make the bill appear cheaper. Every mainstream media outlet has been saying that for months now. If that's some kind of revelation for him that he just had this week, then clearly he's an idiot as well as merely despicable. More likely is that he just finally found an excuse to officially say no

 

there'll be nothing to fear in 2024 regarding another insurrection. They'll win outright.

 

My only problem with Bernie’s make them vote plan is the networks will air Manchin’s floor speech live where he lies about the deficit/debt and inflation and etc, but then not air Bernie or etc pointing out why that’s all wrong and lies and etc

 

The senate race losses in 2016/18/20 are going to forever haunt me
