I was actually thinking about this generally lately. Why do they treat a bill being voted down as a death sentence?
I thought if a bill was voted down you could just put it up for a vote again the next day.

Maybe change some shit, but like I can only imagine how many times the progressive bills in the past have been voted down. Can't imagine them just throwing their arms up on them...well these Dems probably would haha.

 

I was about to drop about $600 to get a box of Binax test kits yesterday, and my wife talked me out of it. My thinking was if it gets really bad we're not gonna want to take the kids out to an urgent care or hosp or their pediatrician to get tested if we think they might have it - risking even more exposure or an exposure in the first place if they end up testing negative. She talked me out of spending the money, with the thinking being it's easy to just keep the kids home from school if they are sick at all or if we just want to because of an outbreak at their school, and she is able to test very quickly and easily at work. I'm the one who has trouble testing. I can get tested at work but there are a lot of hoops to jump though, unless I have what they consider an official exposure. Then they make it easy, but we don't agree on what an official exposure is.

It would be so easy for Joe Biden to send everyone test kits and high quality N95 or KN95 masks and he just doesn't want to do it.

I can't wrap my head around the fact that neither president who's been in charge during this pandemic has had an American company like Armbrust or DemeTECH start producing large amounts of high quality masks to send to people for free. Creates jobs and protects people.

Joe Biden's language has been better than Trump's surrounding the pandemic in that it hasn't been so blatantly anti-science and anti-common sense, but his actions have not been better than Trump's to anywhere near the degree they need to be. Better policies surrounding vaccine distribution and equity may have headed off Omicron before it got to this point, but vaccines and boosters are not the answer to preventing mass death and suffering from this Omicron wave we are facing right now.

 

I truly believe we've reached the "fuck it" phase of the pandemic. Everyone is tired and confused and nobody is doing anything to help.

 

Based on my only anecdotal life and what I see … everyone that’s vaxxed and boosted is very much “I’ve done what I can, going to live my life now” and has basically accepted the risk. (Except a few people I know with kids under the age.)

 

I need some omichronic to cope with all this

 

my mental health isn't in as bad of a place as it was last year when things were super bad right before the holidays, but man I'm losing it having to check every single venue or event that is doing an event for their vaccination/testing/masks requirements and the stress of going to these places knowing there's a risk when I and still generally being in the lockdown mentality of assuming I'm going to be inside almost exclusively for the next several months of winter. Thankfully our gym still has a mask requirement regardless of vaccination status and all the regulars there are good about wearing theirs throughout the weightroom otherwise idk if I could do another covid winter like last year

 

I'm just beyond stressed about visiting my fiance's family for Christmas. They're all antivaxxers with the exception of a few cousins and her brother. Her brother won't even tell her mom that he's vaccinated because he's afraid of the backlash from her.

My fiance said she's okay going without me if I don't feel comfortable, but I feel like that's still pointless because if someone was sick there, she's going to bring it back home to me regardless.

 

This even understates the disparity because college tuitions have risen at a pace which far exceeds broad-based inflation.

 

Yea, it's not even close for any level of higher education.
