When I lost my smell, I continuously and purposely kept trying to smell things constantly - like candles, soap, peanut butter, etc. I have no science to back this up, but I think it helps to keep your brain trying to smell things even if you cannot (smell training?). I lost my smell for about a week. To be honest, I don't think it ever came back 100%. I mean, I can smell everything now, but I feel like the scent isn't as strong, or I have to be really close to smell it.

Also, I noticed that when my smell returned, for several weeks, when I'd wake up, I couldn't really smell much, but as the day went on, my sense of smell got stronger.

Really strange stuff.

 

I had smell issues with what I now believe was long covid. Can't remember if I had any smell issues when I was actually infected with what I now believe was covid. But 3ish months out, I kept smelling burnt toast/other phantom smells. Since it wasn't a stroke, Dr. Internet told me it could be legions on the brain from MS or some shit like that. Was legit trying to find a neurologist between that and all the other symptoms I was having. Eventually those symptoms died down though.

 

I remember thinking how fucking insane it was that some people were suggesting way back at the beginning of the pandemic that the best strategy is to just let it hit and wash over us and we just need to ride it out. It felt like people saying that must not really have an understanding of what the implications of that would actually be in real life. It sounded like one of those easy dumb things to say that don't actually make any sense in the real world.

Our national strategy feels way too close to that for comfort right now.

It feels like the US strategy right now amounts to just yelling at a bunch of people who aren't going to get vaccinated to go get vaccinated and they're not listening. But that's the end of it. We're not really doing anything else, and they're not listening.

It seems like people don't really understand the concept of how if the variant is 'less deadly' but much more contagious you actually end up with higher numbers of severe cases and deaths. We're still fucking up the math here.

 

My flight out of the country is on the 28th, and so I have to take a rapid Covid test on the 27th and test negative. My friends want to host a moving-away party tomorrow night, but now I think I might cancel it because of all these breakthrough cases I'm hearing. This move abroad I've been waiting 3 years to finally make, and so do anything that would jeopardize I think would be reckless at this point. Agree?

 

This should be illegal.

 

If it’s spreading this easily amongst vaccinated people the unvaccinated might be in big trouble.

 

More reason to get involved in local politics and get your city council to pass rent control / stabilization measures

My night fucking sucked after the booster.

-Had the chills all night
-Lost 5 lbs via sweat
-Woke up to my heart racing to the point where I thought I'd have a heart attack
-Kept having lucid dreams about a Castlevania run. (been playing too much lately)
-Horrible headache and just exhausted

 

My rent was raised by $100 this year and pet rent increased by $10. I consider myself lucky which is sad. The fact that I now pay $70 a month for my two cats is ridiculous. Pet rent is a huge scam and whoever came up with the idea is the worst.
