I think the Social Network is really underrated but let's not lose our heads here.

There are few films that capture exactly what it was like living in a certain era, and TSN is one of them. It’s not about the creation of Facebook. It’s Shakespearean in its portrayal of greed the allure of power, and prescient in its display of how insular social media has made us. There’s few films, too, that mean something different every time I watch it. Pound for pound, it’s incredible cinema that hasn’t been matched by another filmmaker from the US.

For me, TSN is an extremely comfy movie and that’s the cherry on top. I usually don’t find such films to be comfy and the editing is the most likely factor.

Yeah but best film of the last 20 years? Let’s not forget that Thor: Ragnarok exists.

This is one of the few matchups so far where I’ve seen both!

And uh, the answer is obviously Godfather and I’m kind of a social network/Sorkin defender in most cases!

  12. The social network take might be the wildest one I've seen in the last few years on this site

I just know that if I had to choose one film before I died and it was between TSN and Godfather, I’d be getting Zucked.

All I can do is vote with my heart, I can endlessly rewatch the social network, but I’ve never truly connected with The Godfather

I love that it’s a hot take to praise TSN, when it’s probably top 3 in most praised movies of the 21st century.

I mean people on here voted it the best film of the year and regularly praise it. It just isn't anywhere close to the best American film of all time...or that decade/even that year

Top three most praised films this century are probably In the Mood for Love, Yi Yi, and Mulholland Dr.

Depends who you ask for the most praised film tbh. I don’t think there are any films that are objectively the most praised of this century that every one can agree on

maybe if you’re into art house, but I disagree as much as I love these movies.

I mean critics do retrospectives on the decade and century all the time. In the Mood for Love, Yi Yi, and Mulholland Drive definitely show up a lot.
