The average gas price in California, the highest in the country, is $4.70. I don't think any other state has gas that is near $5 lol. I paid $3.27 in NJ the other day.

Also I went to a concert last night and I got the ticket for $15, take that inflation.

I was talking with someone who spoke with an official at the Norwegian embassy in Paris, who said that as long as I spend two weeks in an EU country that Norway currently does allow in, then I can fly from that country in Norway with no problem. Depending on whether they accept the US vaccine certificate or not I might have to quarantine, but I'll still at least get in. US infections are still high enough that people traveling from the US, unless they're Norwegian citizens, aren't allowed in yet. I'm reaching out soon to the Norwegian embassy in NYC to confirm this, but from the official rules I've read, it's all about where you're traveling from, not what country your passport says you're from. So tentative plan might be to fly to Copenhagen in Denmark after Christmas, spend two weeks there, and then fly to Oslo.

I dont know that I completely agree with this. Seems more of a problem with Very Online people rather than the "average" media consumer. I'd wager the vast majority of people watching those shows aren't taking the wrong political message, they're more likely not reading anything political in it at all.

Atlanta airport scare: Departing planes halted after 'accidental discharge' at Atlanta airport, officials say - CNN

The incident began around 1:30 p.m. ET when a "prohibited item" was identified going through the X-ray at the security checkpoint, the TSA said. A bag search was initiated, and a TSA officer told the passenger not to touch the property. However, as the officer searched the bag, the "passenger lunged into the bag and grabbed a firearm, at which point it discharged," the TSA said.

I really hope that BBB gets put through soon, if only for the part about closing the Medicaid gap in the shitty states that didn't expand it to unemployed single adults. I don't have a job right now, I don't have unemployment anymore, and there's no way I can afford a health plan under normal rates. And I'm diabetic, so a health plan is really important for me. I still have time to figure out what I'm going to do or, hopefully, find new employment, but I'd feel a lot better if I knew I didn't have to think about this.

not the same thing, but the other day I bought tickets at the same time for 2 shows at the same venue, on the same app, and paid 2 service fees. Absurd.
