Yeah, gimme 4-piece Blink where Tom can come in and out as he pleases, but they still release music and tour as much as the other guys want to. The band shouldn't have to cater to Tom so much. Either be in or be out. They've proven to themselves and the fans that Tom isn't an integral piece of the puzzle. Nine fucking rules whether you want to accept it or not.

If Tom came back I think they would quietly move on from the Skiba era, probably never playing any of those songs again. But if they did want to keep something like Bored to Death on the setlist, I don't really think Tom would mind playing it live. To him it would be like one of the Mark songs on Neighborhoods that he didn't record anything for anyways lol.

 

I saw alk3 the other night and Skiba was rough all around, both vocals and guitar. Not sure what’s up with him these days, he used to be solid. Just age I guess ?

Most songs aren’t even Skibas the way there used to be Mark and Tom songs

edit: also, why would they “move on” from a number one single/album and an album as good as Nine is? Lol Mark and Travis like those records obviously

 

There just isn’t a chance Tom rejoining Blink “full time” will ever be a thing. He can barely even put out music and tour with his own band.

Blink is/was working on a new record. I don’t remember hearing any specific news of Tom being involved with any of that shared with the public.

For Travis weird Halloween show thing, they played old Blink and they had a fill in for Matt since he’s touring with the Trio. Wasn’t Tom.

Tom just released a record with his own band he fronts and wanted to do instead of Blink.

These seem like undisputed facts at this point I believe.

Lots of possibilities exist. Only sure thing we know is that people will complain, argue and eventually rank albums which they will disagree on because this is such a divided fanbase.

One positive thing for the 'anti-feldman camp' - (continuing hypothetical og blink record) I can't see a scenario where Tom would want to work with a songwriter/producer for a record. I'm pretty sure I remember Tom criticizing that approach and said he was simply not interested in writing music that way.

 

Tom just seems happier going more of the DIY route. He clearly knows how to bring other people onboard if he needs it (Aaron, Ilan, Critter, his TTS stuff). That’s his choice and I can respect that. Which is why I see him pushing back on working with someone like Feldman if the trio ever got together.

I feel like it would end up being an internal and intimate thing for them. Plus, like….Travis is apparently a bomb producer now lol.

 

Critter honestly seemed like more of a yes man as far as writing goes. It wasn’t until The Dream Walker era where Tom seemed to realize he needed to change his approach.

 

Even suggesting Tom would rejoin the band and have demands and an unwillingness to work with a producer in Jon who they’ve chosen to work with on their last record indicates to me why he shouldn’t be back (although he didn’t actually say he that and it’s more of of fan interpretation).

They’ve already done the hybrid Blink/AvA sound with Neighbourhoods and they have multiple members in the band who can produce (but honestly sometimes working with a producer can let some bands focus on the music which is what the complaint with Neighbourhoods already was).

If they’ve got a record with Mark/Travis/Matt and Jon or whomever producing 80%(?) done why scrap that for Tom’s return. Between members healthy, family life and other projects, why would you scrap that?

I also thought Tom fans were really happy with his last AvA record? Do people want him to give that up?

 

Tom’s best music in over decade was just released (Chasing Shadows and Of Nightmares EP’s are cool though).

As much as I’d like Tom to be back in blink, it’s merely for nostalgic and comforting reasons than it is for art/creative reasons.

It’s a win-win for me either way though. Either Tom continues exploring AVA and blink puts out radio ear worms. Or Tom rejoins blink, the fam gets back together, and it feels like the stars are aligned again.

I'm probably reading into it way too much but when James Corden asked Tom about a blink reunion he had this mischievous look on his face during the answer that made me think it's already been established (there are heavy summer 2022 reunion tour rumors) and he just can't say anything about publicly yet.
