I understand why Dems from upper middle class northeast districts are so adamant about it. But the fact that this would be literally the single costliest part of the bill and that 90% of the benefits will go to the top 5% of income earners indicates that this is counter to what the bill is trying to accomplish. Even more so considering that this is something else that has to be paid for and the main holdout is extremely concerned about cost. Perhaps it should be adjusted to raise the amount that can be deducted, but that should be pretty popular to do at another time and it certainly shouldn't be a complete repeal

This election coverage is a clusterfuck right now because it seems no one knows for sure what vote is E day vote vs early vote vs Mail in vote etc

Just wild how much fear mongering about critical race theory in schools is working. Sigh.

Truly awful. Feel so bad for all the suffering that’s going to happen in Virginia because of this.

don't forget the transphobia that is gonna get added to the republican's playbook everywhere:concerned:

hopefully this makes democrats realize they can't run on just being not trump. And they need to do a better job controlling the messaging. But they've been failing to do that for as long as I can remember so not really getting my hopes up.

This is the thing so many people don’t realize about 2024: there won’t even need to be another coup because Trump is just going to win.

It’s the same with trans issues as the latest boogeyman tactic to be picked back up. There’s been a surge of Q-rhetoric outbursts and incidents rising in school districts which are telling for what the 2022 and 2024 elections will be about. the latest QAnonAnoynomous episode covered it in depth.

I picked a great year to come out as trans lmao..

  22. I thought, from what I saw, the Dem messaging in this race was pretty solid. I don't really think this playbook will work everywhere in the burbs, but I do think it'll work some places.

I mean clearly from the result the messaging was not solid.

Now some of it is... I'm honestly not sure how you respond to the CRT bullshit. But they clearly need to do better. Don't let the race just be about education -- find other things that are going to get people to show up to the polls.

that tweets point is specifically “without Trump” though. Youngkin did his best to separate from Trump and pretend to be a moderate Repub in a blue leaning purple state. Drop Trump back in to the top of the ticket and….

  25. I dunno if it's really that simple. It'd be nice if best messaging was all it took to win an election, but I don't really buy it.
