We don't need to have the same music taste per se but a general appreciation for all music is pretty necessary for me. Though a similar taste in music is preferred.

My boyfriend and I like some of the same music, tv shows and both of us adore Harry Potter but there are other interests separate and we talk to each other about them, which is great because we learn about a lot of things from each other. Common interests and a passion for music of any kind are important to me, I'm a shy and awkward person but if your passion for something (especially music) radiates, you're a lot easier to talk to haha

 

Fourth date still awkward. Or maybe I'm just imagining it because I'm expecting an over the top fireworks situation. I'm clueless

Liking the same music never starts as a deal breaker, but I have found it quite hard to really connect with someone who can't really appreciate some of the things I'm really into. I've been in situations where I've had a really good meshing of senses of humour and been into similar tv shows too, so we had lots to talk about and could talk about all sorts of shit for ages, but it was nothing which really mattered to me, so it felt a bit empty, ultimately.

Maybe I was spoilt by the person I was with for longest, but it was nice to be able to go to shows we both wanted to see and not have to go just so the other had company.

 

I've ~been with~ one person that likes the same music as me, same TV shows, same films. Pretty much everything like that. We clicked when it came to that sort of stuff, but I never felt anything for them. I didn't actually like them.

 

This has been me exactly this week.

 

Went on a pretty casual date with a girl yesterday that a co-worker is trying to set me up with. Just met for some coffee and to get to know each other a bit. She doesn't listen to music. Like, at all. She just drives in complete silence. I don't know if that's going to work for me. :/

 

Haha I had a history professor in college that literally didn't enjoy listening to any music, and I was just like, what?

 

My parents don't listen to music when they drive and I don't understand

 

My dad listens to either talk radio or nothing.

 

My ex who didn't listen to music was always listening to podcasts. Driving in complete silence would've been too weird.
