Got tickets today for Birmingham, very excited for the new record. I'm hoping for a 'Night Drive' vibe somewhere in the mix... my all time favourite from them.

 

Ugh JEW is going to be in London less than week before I'll be there. Damn that would have been cool.

 

okay so starting with static prevails. as I hit play on thinking, that's all I realize these guys were blending a lot of styles early on that influenced a lot that would come later. Some screaming, driving guitars, lots of urgency

 

This band is really good at constantly releasing albums that sound totally different from one another, but still all feel like Jimmy eat world

Sometimes they get a little weird too

 

The singles for this were bizarre choices

There were far better choices, I think

 

I think Sure and Certain is pretty indicative

 

havent heard the rest of the album, obv, but sure and certain is a fantastic single. get right, eh, but its not bad for the first song released before the BIG single. just a little teaser of new music.

 

Sure And Certain gives my life a sense of fulfillment

 

I think parts of it are, but on the whole I don't think it gives a great idea. I think the opener will do a better job. I think the album is poppier than the singles indicate

 

I feel there are other songs that can be bigger than S&C, great tho it is. Get right confuses me

 

i think of get right in the way that like in hip-hop you'll often get a "street single" before the "radio single."

 

jimmy eat world is masterful at writing album openers.

"Get Right" makes a lot of sense where it is. very very much the "Pain" of this record.

 

invented is the jimmy eat world record i put on in the car the most

 

that or CTL--just love ruining my voice to that one

 

CTL is the best for any activity. mowed the lawn to that record last week

 

zig-zags in the grass from all that dancin'

 

Hmm will have to give that a shot, I think I listened to that on headphones primarily.

On another note I started listening to CTL for the first time today. Pretty good like four songs in.
